The Chrome Czars of Chicago IL throw a little party called the Hunnert Car Pile Up evey year in October. Well, it started out little anyway. Now it has grown into a must see event that draws people from Canada, Texas, New York, and California. And these guys DRIVE their rides here. The faithful of this hot rod religion have called Morris IL their Mecca, and it is easy to see why this event is so popular.
The laid back atmosphere the Czars provide create an environment that screams fun to the spectators and participants alike.
Check out some of the highlights from 2009. Pre ’65 high end kustoms to low end beaters are all welcome at the Hunnert. But don’t think just because you show up means you get to come on in….you will get to see that the entry requirements of no billet, no digital, and no stock vehicles are enforced as the rides are asked to go to spectator parking. Coverage continues inside where cars are stacked up, people are having a good time, artists are spreading the gospel of the kustom kulture, and vendors are trying to make a buck.

€18,00Quick ViewAnother film trying to capitalize quickly on the twist craze. This time it is Joey Dee and his ’Peppermint Twist’ in the spotlight. An unimaginative little movie about two brothers turning their father’s Italian Garden eating establishment into a money making dance club, the Peppermint Lounge. Of course the brothers have created an adaption to the twist, called the Peppermint Twist. Lip syncing is very bad. The script was probably rehearsed once or twice. But the close ups of twisting hips in tight capri pants makes up for all the short comings.
Singers Joey Dee and Teddy Randazzo share the lead. Zorba Lampert is the cute ’bad’ girl. Also in the cast are Jo-Ann Campbell and Kay Armen.
Black & white tail shaker gives a glimpse at the culture of the early 60s.

Since then the establishment has become a Mecca for Rockabilly and Psychobilly bands! This compilation DVD is a collection of promo videos of bands connected or associated with the studio. Most of which have been shot and edited by Western Star. Some have been commissioned especially for this DVD and the bands themselves make a few. The collection showcases bands old and new.. Big names from the scene such as The Frantic Flintstones, The Sharks and Frenzy rub shoulders with bands such as Luna Vegas, The Valentine Villains, The Bonneville Barons and Pretty Grim.
Also included here are 3 promos by Jack Rabbit Slim, who hold the enviable title of best selling Rockabilly band of both 2006 and 2007. This band have just returned from headliner slot at the Viva Las Vegas festival and were also featured on a Radio 2 documentary this year. First time ever on DVD for this collection on rare and in some cases previously unseen material.
