  • Gray Phil And His Go-Boys - Pepper Hot Baby / Bluest Boy In Town (7 single/EP)

    10,00

Do you know the story behind this 45? Phil Gray was 15 years old when he recorded this amazing slab of killer Rockabilly! Col. Tom Parker got an earful of it, and did not want his Elvis to have competition, it was hitting radio markets in Norfolk, Virginia Beach & Jacksonville, Florida…

Parker paid the stations not to play the 45, and bought up ALL existing copies and had them destroyed. Phil Gray told me that story, and he believes the same thing happened with the Billy Barrix 45. Parker tried to do it with Gene Vincent also, but he was too late. Jack Neal the bass player for Gene Vincent plays on the 45, and it was recorded at the Fernwood Studios, by Curly Burris. Fernwood also recorded the Cactus Record label. DJ Sheriff Tex Davis, heard Vincent, and became their manager much to Parker’s dismay, because Parker payed off Davis to stop Pepper Hot Baby from radio airplay. Phil Gray actually opened a few local gigs for the Blue Caps, but he left and went to TN to record for Marty Robbins. Phil Gray plays on several of the Robbins 45’s.

Mr. Phil Gray does not own a copy of this 45, and had not seen one since the 50’s. It is a fascinating story, as this is a truly unique opportunity to take a glimpse back into the heyday of Rock N Roll and Rockabilly music.

  • Dale Jim - Be My Girl, The Rockin’ Years (CD)

Long before he became a Carry On regular, or even (in the U.S.) the narrator of Harry Potter audio books, the hugely versatile JIM DALE was, briefly, an unlikely (not to mention unwilling – he’d wanted to become a comedian!) Rock & Roll star.

A regular on TV shows like 6-5 Special, which he ended up co-presenting, Jim actually had rather more UK hits than people generally remember.

His biggest record, ’Be My Girl’, reached No.2, while ’Just Born (To Be Your Baby)’, ’Crazy Dream’, ’Sugartime’ and ’Don’t Let Go’ also made the UK charts.

All are included on this set, which also features collectables like his debut 45, ’Piccadilly Line’, ’The Train Kept A-Rollin” from the movie version of 6-5 Special and his 10’ LP, ’Jim’.

This compilation collates all his recordings between 1957-62, for Parlophone, ACM Academy and Piccadilly, including a rarity, ’I Didn’t Mean It’, which has never previously appeared on CD.

  • Various - Get With It! – Memphis-style Rockabilly & Country (Käytetty LP/12)

    30,00

16 tracks. 1954-1977. The Inspiration for all the recordings on this album was the music of Memphis and the mid-south in the 50s. One side rocks like mad, the other side is plaintively raw country. Some of these are new recordings, some are real oldies, most have not been issued before. All of them excited me into putting them on this album. So…let’s Get With It. (Martin Hawkins)

  • Bop-A-Rama Vol. 2

    15,00

On the thirty-song Bop-a-Rama Volume Two, there is a mixture of several bop beat styles, hot boppin’ Rockabilly, bop Blues, and a sprinkling of Cajun and Hillbilly. Featured artists include Rockabillies and Rock ‘n’ Rollers; Dale Hawkins, Lucky Plank, Jeff Stone, Cleve Warnock, Sleepy LaBeef, and several others. The roots music emanates from Bluegrass artists Flatt and Scruggs, there is a Cajun vocal rocker by Burnell Martin and Hillbilly tempos from the tonsils of, Ben Hall and Wiley and Jessie Barkdull. The rockin’ Blues music is heard from a trio of Negro stars and one Caucasian; Chuck Berry, Billy Bland, Arthur ”Big Boy” Crudup, and Ronnie Hawkins. To end the album Rhythm Bomb Records, provide two recordings from their roster, German group Carolina and Her Rhythm Rockets and a wild American outfit the Frantic Rockers bring the action to a thunderous ending! Atomicat endeavors to use some lesser-known and for some, perhaps more obscure titles and add something unexpected to every album. Most certainly one person’s bop can be another’s jive, and different clubs and countries do not dance at the same tempo, and we do not aim to preach only to give you danceable music. This album is compiled by well-known Dee Jay and face on the music scene Mark Armstrong, who has been Dee Jaying since his early teen years. Our albums have; stunning design, sleeve notes, songs, mastered for the best possible sound available. The disc is housed in an attractively designed cardboard sleeve, specially constructed to avoid the use of plastic and be environmentally friendly.
