Coffinshakers - The Curse of the Coffinshakers 1996-2016 (3CD Boxset) (CD)€36,00
Ilmestyy myös CD boxina (19.08.2022)
CD box set, thick booklet
Formed in 1995 in Karlstad, Sweden by Rob Coffinshaker, these graveyard country pioneers have been steadily putting out records, most of which have now become highly sought-after collector items. The Coffinshakers successfully merged the imagery of German expressionist cinema with traditional country sounds of Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash, occasionally flirting with Ennio Morricone -style melodies and the 60’s surf-garage sounds of The Ventures. Topped with full-bodied lyrics and Rob Coffinshaker’s haunting, low register voice, this combination gained them a cult following in the late 90’s and 2000’s, and they even creeped up to the Finnish top 40 with their self-titled album in 2007.
Svart Records are proud to announce the official Coffinshakers reissues, which have been in the works for a couple of years now. These reissues include the full length albums We Are The Undead (1998) and The Coffinshakers (2007). This deluxe CD box includes both albums, a bonus disc (From the Crypt – Rare and Unreleased) and a thick booklet with a lengthy interview and archive material. The bonus disc is only available in the box set and includes rare compilation tracks, EP releases and a handful of unreleased tunes from Rob Coffinshaker’s personal vaults.
Various - Blood On The Cats – Even Bloodier (2CD) (CD)€15,00
Klassikkojen klassikko uuutena versiona. Mukana myös muutama ennenjulkaisematon biisi.
• An “Even Bloodier Edition” of the legendary psychobilly album ‘Blood On The Cats’ which was originally issued in 1983 on Cherry Red’s Anagram label.
• Featuring the original album which successfully combined music from UK psychobilly scene leaders The Meteors, The Sting-Rays and The Guana Batz, US pioneers Panther Burns, Irish punks The Outcasts, gothabilly rockers Alien Sex Fiend and even horror rocker Screaming Lord Sutch to create a suitably psychotic blend.
• Plus a further 45 rockin’ and wreckin’ cuts, casting a similarly wide net to include the US group that inspired the movement, The Cramps plus fellow American exponents The Gun Club, along with early recordings by psychobilly heroes Frenzy, Restless and The Krewmen, the infamous King Kurt who were the only UK psychobilly group to get on Top Of The Pops, garage trash from The Milkshakes, The Prisoners and The Tall Boys and neo rockabilly from Dave Phillips And The Hot Rod Gang alongside mainland Europe acts The Nomads and The Voodoo Dolls from Sweden and The Raymen from Germany.
• Rarities include Phoenix, Arizona band Grant And The Geezers’ self-released ‘Monster Stomp’, Swedish psychobilly combo The Voodoo Dolls’ ‘Split Personality’ and ‘Death Letter Blues’ the B- side of scene stars The Krewmen’s debut single.
Psychobilly was one of the biggest youth cults of the 1980s, remembered for the followers’ gravity-defying quiffs and aggressive “wrecking” dance. The music became an adrenalized mix of rockabilly and punk featuring lyrics often inspired by horror and science fiction films.
‘Blood On The Cats’ was the first compilation to try to define psychobilly and many fans’ first exposure to a genre that, at that stage, was still unformed, being part of a worldwide movement inspired by punk but devoted to primitive rock ‘n’ roll of the 1950s and 1960s.
Most of the groups included here played The Klub Foot at The Clarendon Hotel Ballroom in Hammersmith which opened in 1982 and soon became the psychobilly scene’s focal point, only closing in 1988 when the venue was knocked down.
Leader P Paul Fenech claimed that “only The Meteors are pure psychobilly” and the London group certainly kicked off the movement. They are present here in their original line up with ‘Graveyard Stomp’ from 1981, as well as the Fenech-lead later trio with their Top 3 Indie Chart hit ‘I’m Just A Dog’ from 1984. Offshoot bands The Escalators and The Tall Boys also feature.

Surfin' Dead - Dead-A-Rama + Powertwang 2CD (CD)€15,00
The Surfin’ Dead is a hard edged instrumental surf band, led by the guitar of P Paul Fenech, founder of psychobilly genre legends The Meteors.
Instrumentals have always played a part in The Meteors repertoire, and the band has released two all-instrumental collections – volumes one and two of Mental Instrumentals.
Just as The Legendary Raw Deal is an outlet for Fenech’s rockabilly side, The Surfin’ Dead allows him to explore the instrumental surf genre.
The two Surfin’ Dead albums Powertwang (1996) and Dead-A-Rama (2019) have been reissued as a double CD set, with Dead-A-Rama only previously having been available as a vinyl release.
The albums will appeal to fans of The Meteors as the performances are delivered with the attitude of all of Fenech’s work, but the recordings stay true enough to the traditional surf style to also win the approval of instrumental surf and rock ’n’ fans in general.

Meteors - Dreamin’ Up A Nightmare (CD)€17,00
RELEASE DATE: JULY 9, 2021 JULKAISU : Heinäkuun 9, 2021
THE METEORS – ”Back to hell we go”!
THE METEORS were formed in 1980 in a reaction to the bands that were singing about ‘Big Green Cars’, ‘Rocking This Town’ and being ‘Rockabilly Rebels’. Preferring their songs to contain topics about vampires, stomping in graveyards and radioactive kids P. Paul Fenech, Mark Robertson and Nigel Lewis soon found themselves all over the media. A media who were eagerly lapping up their new sound christened (thought that is surely not the right word) – ‘Psychobilly’. THE METEORS were front page news in the weekly music press, recording radio sessions and interviews for legends like John Peel, and gracing the silver screen care of a movie short that did the rounds with the Two-Tone movie ‘Dance Craze’. Their film ‘Meteor Madness’, apart from hosting some crazed performances with the unhinged trio, also featured songstress Lilly Allen’s father starring as none other than the rather exasperated Devil, strange but true.
By 1982 the original line-up had split with Lewis and Robertson going on to form their own bands while P. Paul forged ahead with a free hand with THE METEORS and his idea of how psychobilly should sound. That was a sound that had grown from one of a band’s own personal identity to a world-wide genre that is Psychobilly now over 40 years established and still growing and thriving around the globe. THE METEORS have continued to inspire and influence countless bands while continuing to lead the charge from the very vanguard.
Now 41 years later, we are in year 2 of the Covid pandemic. But even this could not stop the rolling hate train. In the woods of Oregon, Paul Fenech built himself a new home and his own new recording studio ”Wolftone”. This is also where the new album ”Dreamin’ Up A Nightmare” came into being.
So here we go again into the pure psychobilly madness of the kings. Now, fresh as ever even after decades of constant touring and more over 30 groundbreaking and cult sustaining albums, THE METEORS present their superb ”next evolution” in the genre that they created and have cultivated and moved forward time after time. It is as uncompromising as ever and encompasses all the elements that have always made up THE METEORS brand of ”Pure Psychobilly”. 12 brandnew tracks of evil psychobilly rock ‘n‘ roll, razor sharp instrumentals and deranged lyrics leading to songs that are guaranteed to set any monsters lose and putting them straight to the wrecking pit! Paul Fenech is not deterred and continues his musical vision undiminished.
Pandemic or not… ONLY THE METEORS ARE PURE PSYCHOBILLY!
Deadbeatz - Hangover No. 7 (CD)€15,00
This is a short story about a long beard. A small story about a big incident that formed the style of this band. A tale about two guys with a bass, harmonica, drums, and a singer with the above-mentioned long beard. Two guys on a mission to prove to the world how powerful the blues can be. Teaching their audience ”no guitar player needed”. Many years ago, they once had a guitar player. One night, they were left with no money left to bail him out in that small town. With a number of empty whiskey bottles left in a destroyed hotel room, there was no going back. They were left to their own unique sound. Recording sessions followed that incident on this album.
Small band with a big sound. No guitar player needed. Let them BLOW YOU AWAY!
David Karlinger blues harp & drums
Bernie Miller vocal & double bass

Various - Just A Bad Dream: Sixty British Garage & Trash Nuggets 1981-89 (3CD) (CD)€25,00
3CD set charting the UK’s 1980s Garage Rock revival, otherwise known as Trash.
All of the key players! Including Thee Milkshakes, The Sting-Rays, The Cannibals, The Prisoners, The Barracudas, The X-Men, The Tall Boys, The Jesus And Mary Chain, The Meteors, The X-Men, The Playn Jayn and many, many more…
Sixty of the finest must-have scene hits, lesser known deep cuts and underexposed nuggets.
Produced in association with The Sting-Rays’ Alec Palao
“I was there” sleevenotes from Mike Spenser, Lenny Helsing and Vic Templar.
Remarkable ‘comic book’ design and packaging makes this a must-see, must-hear, must-have set!
Sometimes, a disparate crowd of random influences and a handful of scene-makers coalesce out of nothing, and before you know it a movement is happening. So it was in the UK in the early-to-mid- ‘80s, when an unlikely set of bands resurrected the spirit of mid-‘60s Garage Rock.
Fusing that sound with elements of the pre-Fab Four, Psych, Mod, Rockabilly and Psychobilly, and greasing the wheels of this new machine with a thick slab of post—punk sensibility, bands across the UK began to shout and holler like they hadn’t in years, capturing their work on often rough and ready recordings, issued on Big Beat, Hangman, Hit Records, Media Burn, Creation and other equally fried labels. From London, Medway and the South East to Edinburgh and beyond, the Trash movement spread, quickly reaching out into mainland Europe and beyond. Here in the UK, Trash finally enjoyed its moment in the sunshine in 1984, when four of the scene’s key bands appeared on Channel 4’s flagship music show The Tube.
Spiky, brash, loud and unfettered by delusions of grandeur, this is the sound of the post punk UK music scene looking backwards whilst moving forwards. Not for the faint-hearted, sure, and always likely to tell you where you can stick it, but this is a sound that has stuck. The garage and trash scene, albeit under different names and sprinkled with a layer of post-Millennial self-awareness, continues to thrive around the world. Wherever one finds guitars, amplifiers and the primal spirit, one finds Trash.
Packed full of rarities and collectibles – the Medway Valley and Billy Childish related material is currently particularly sought after – ‘Just A Bad Dream’ will appeal to fans of ‘80s Psychedelia, Mod Revival, Indie, Psychobilly and, of course, the ‘60s Garage Rock that influenced so many of these artists.
