In the pantheon of great Chicago pianists Sunnyland Slim is up there with the greats like Otis Spann, Pinetop Perkins, Lafayette Leake and several others.
Although he never enjoyed huge selling records he was a jukebox favourite and recorded consistently for numerous Chicago based labels throughout his long and influential career.
This collection is just a snapshot of six short years in his career and is the first time this great artist has had a multi label overview of his career.
He hasn’t been especially well treated in the reissue market during the CD era and this superb collection goes someway to help re-establish his undoubted importance in the blues world.
