Felts Narvel - Those Rockabilly Days (CD)
€15,00• Born in Keiser, Arkansas in 1938, Narvel Felts began beating out time on a sadly worn out Gene Autry guitar whilst picking cotton to earn extra pocket money. His family moved to Missouri, when he was 14 and the sounds of rural Country music and rockabilly were heard regularly on radio and T.V. and at local dance halls. Aged 17, Narvel entered a talent contest and was soon beaming out his music weekly on local radio. Many of the original studio tapes have miraculously survived from 1956 and several of these gems can be heard on this collection.
• Narvel then tried his luck with Sam Phillips at Sun Records laying down two sessions in early 1957 but there would be no yellow label 45’s for Narvel and he was finally offered a contract with Mercury in 1957. Narvel stayed with Mercury for a year having four singles released and then moved to Pink Records, which was part of Hi in Memphis, where Narvel would taste his first hit record – ‘Three Thousand Miles’.
• Narvel would continue to record and play shows throughout the 1960s and in 1973 he signed with Cinnamon Records and the hits began to roll in. Narvel would score hit after hit with songs such as ‘Drift Away’. ‘All In The Name Of Love’, ‘When Your Good Love Was Mine’, ‘Funny How Time Slips Away’ and his number one classic – ‘Reconsider Me’.
• Moving into the 1980s and the European Rockabilly revival came calling and Narvel was persuaded to turn back the years and reprise his early recordings. To his amazement, he was received ecstatically and returned many times to play concerts throughout Europe.
• This new Stomper Time CD collects together for the first time, the best of Narvel’s rocking recordings from over the years and represents a great tribute to a fine artist, who is approaching 60 years in show business. Narvel has actually had 69 Top 40 hits and this CD will show you why.

Various - Hot Rockin` Music From Arkansas (CD)
€18,00In the 1950’s, Memphis, Tennessee and the local Tri-State area seemed to act as a catalyst for so many things such as ’King’ Cotton, The Civil Rights movement, a polyglot of religions, races and creeds, but perhaps, above all, for a stunning pot-pourri of music from supercharged R&B to plaintive Hillbilly, to cotton patch Blues, to the intense emotion of Gospel and the tough sounds of Rock ’n’ Roll and Rockabilly. It was all there and it was an Alabama man – Sam Phillips – who was the first to realise that so much talent needed an outlet and duly founded the Memphis Recording Service, the results of which have become history. Many other local entrepreneurs attempted to emulate Sam’s success with varying results. Some Companies foundered after only two or three releases, others released a credible catalogue’s worth of 45’s, whilst a few, such as Fernwood and Meteor would actually enter the Billboard Charts with sizeable hits. This CD represents a documentation of one of those smaller, highly individual record companies to whom we owe so much… Vaden Records. Founded by husband and wife Arlen and Jackie Vaden in Trumann, Arkansas in the late 1950s. 35 hot rockin’ tracks make their CD debuts here, with the usual detailed sleeve notes and label discography.

Various - Fernwood Rhythm`n`Blues From Memphis (CD)
€18,00Long respected as a haven for Memphis Rock ’n’ Roll & Rockabilly, Fernwood
Records recorded a clutch of R ’n’ B and Blues sides which have mostly
never been re-issued until now. In fact, most of these recordings probably
never got beyond the Memphis City limits, as many of them were Custom
records made to be sold off the Bandstand. Obscure these titles may have
been, but there’s no denying that they can certainly ’rock the house’, so
be ready to enjoy another feast of classic music from Memphis.””
