  • Adams Kay - Little Pink Mack (Pink) (LP)

    35,00

Highway Heroine Bakersfield Twang backed by the Buckaroos!

Got your ears on? This album collects Kay Adams’ live studio cuts from the Buck Owens Ranch Show. Along with Tammy, Patsy and Loretta, Kay was one of country’s first female artists who elevated women in the genre. Gritty and country-to-the-bone, let this one spin & cut a rug!

Most of the Ranch Show songs Adams didn’t draw from her regular repertoire were tunes recorded by Buck Owens at some point, including “We’re Gonna Let the Good Times Roll,” “Number One Heel,” “Down, Down, Down,” and “Loose Talk.” But her Ranch Show renditions reveal a singer just as deserving of Bakersfield royalty status as the head honcho himself. She’s indomitable, inconsolable, or incorrigible as the moment demands. And whichever emotion she conveys, she achieves a pope-on-a-polygraph level of believability. Adams’ Ranch Show recordings are a hell of a legacy all on their own.

When Adams tucks into “Silver Threads and Golden Needles,” things come full circle in multiple ways. “That was the first song I ever sang for Dave Stogner, and I used to sing that with my dad’s band,” she explains. That crucial catch in her voice signified that she was still every bit the Vernon-bred country girl who chimed in on her father’s gigs. But she was also the loud, proud woman unafraid to rock that tune up years before Linda Ronstadt tackled it.

  • Cash Rosanne - The Wheel (2LP Deluxe Edition, 30th Anniversary Edition) (LP)

    50,00

Rosanne Cash left Nashville in the early 90’s. The first album she recorded in New York with John Leventhal, The Wheel, celebrates 30 years with an exclusive 30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition that features a 2023 Remastered version of the original album and an additional 11 tracks from the 1993 Live from Austin City Limits and Live from The Columbia House Records Radio Hour sessions, making their digital debut. Rosanne says of the album, ”It’s satisfying and sweet to re-introduce The Wheel in this thirtieth anniversary year. I can’t look back at that time and separate the music from Love. What was true then has become more true and more alive every day since. We listen to this record now, and wish we had mixed the vocal a little louder on this track, or had a different guitar sound on that track, but honestly, it’s perfect for it’s time and place. I have a friend who doesn’t believe that artists evolve, but that there are only different stages and expressions. I’m not sure about that, but in either case, I’m so grateful for The Wheel. It turns out I can’t orchestrate the movement of the stars. They do that all on their own.”

Haggard Merle - Live From Austin, TX ’78

Original price was: €29,90.Current price is: €24,00.

When he stepped onto the Austin City Limits stage for the very first time on that brisk January day in 1978, Merle Haggard was at the top of his game. It had been over a decade since his first national hit, “Sing A Sad Song,” and not that long after “Okie from Muskogee” had firmly planted his music in the public consciousness. He had already been declared “Entertainer of the Year” by both the Country Music Awards and Academy of Country Music – in the same year (1970). He had just released A Tribute to the Best Damn Fiddle Player in the World (Or My Salute to Bob Wills), which sparked a revival of interest in western swing. And with his band, The Strangers, it’s no stretch to say that he had the best live show in country music of his day.

On this night, the band stopped by Gilley’s Honkytonk in Pasadena, Texas to deliver a one in a lifetime performance featuring the hits, “Me And Bobby McGee”, “The Pilgrim” and “Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down.”

“What a great album this is! Classic Kristofferson songs throughout, and live!! Kris was in his prime and his vocals were outstanding and very soulful as always.” – George Strait

“Kris Kristofferson was such an amazing songwriter, a great performer, and was a good match for our crowd. It was totally jam-packed every night, but we’d have an especially big crowd whenever an artist like Kris would come to town.” – Mickey Gilley

  • Jennings Waylon - Live From Austin, Tx ’89 (2LP, Pink, Limited Edition) (LP)

    37,50

This performance by Waylon Jennings was no April Fool’s joke. This was the ”new” Waylon, both personally and professionally. He had kicked a 20-year drug habit, split with RCA and signed a new deal with MCA Records. He discovered a passion for songwriting, teamed with legendary producer Jimmy Bowen, and produced some of the best work of his 30-year-plus career. He credited his wife and soul mate, Jessie Colter, for much of his inspiration.

This was Waylon’s second trip to the ACL stage, but the one that best captures the raw edge and driving urgency that pushed country music way past its Nashville boundaries starting in the mid-1970’s. He was described as the leader of the country ”Outlaw” movement, which he often dismissed as just another marketing scam, but there’s no denying that he turned the music on its head and took it way beyond its rural southern roots. This West Texas boy who worked as a DJ and started his own band at 14, then later played with Buddy Holly, left an indelible mark on the music he loved. He was a class act, this man called Hoss.

  • Cargill Henson - What’s My Name (1967-1970) (LP)

    39,90

From the people who brought you ’Hillbillies In Hell’…

Stellar songs, heartfelt performances, the finest Nashville players and the greatest set of tonsils to ever wrap themselves around Activist Country-Pop… Here are the almost forgotten masterpieces of Henson Cargill, sourced directly from the Monument Records vault and presented together for the first time on LP. Hear Henson’s smooth baritone lambast apathy (’None of My Business’), chide neglectful parenting (’Skip A Rope’), ponder the byzantine tableaux of love (’Four Shades of Love’), dismiss the space race and dissect de-evolution (’Going Backwards’) and name-check both Adolph Eichmann and Cecil B. DeMille in one very lysergic song (’What’s my Name?’). Across 1967-1970, Cargill pioneered a unique and radical New Nashville Sound. Swinging, dobro-led shuffles with controversial, cosmic/striking themes and insightful lyrics. Dystopian and defiant anti-war laments. Tender and timeless brooding ballads of regret. Wise, worldly and weary. 16 prime cuts of Psyche-Gnashville brilliance. Witness the Hillbilly Zen of ’Row Row Row’, the Apocalyptic revelations of ’This Generation Shall Not Pass’ and the acerbic disestablishmentarianism of ’Reprints (Plastic People)’. Nashville 1967, something was in the water and Henson Cargill drank his fill.

  • Nelson Willie - Bluegrass (140 Gram Vinyl, Colored Vinyl, Blue) (LP)

    29,50

WILLIE NELSON / BLUEGRASS Bluegrass is a brand new studio album that captures a dozen classic Willie Nelson compositions-including ”On the Road Again,” ”Yesterday’s Wine,” ”Still is Still Moving to Me,” ”Good Hearted Woman” and more-freshly interpreted by Willie and an ensemble of crack players. In a seven decade career that has seen him explore genres from one end of the musical spectrum to the other, this is his first full album dedicated to genre. Willie and longtime producer Buddy Cannon, picked personal and fan favorite compositions from across his career to perform anew for this salute to the Appalachian old-time string band music which profoundly influenced Willie’s songwriting sensibilities and the direction of American country music in general. Using his own catalog as source material, Willie chose songs combining the kind of strong melodies, memorable storylines and tight ensemble-interplay found in traditional bluegrass interpretations of the roots of American folk songs. With Bluegrass, Willie uncovers new truths in his own songs. SONY LEGACY LP includes one 140-gram electric blue vinyl disc.

  • Patterson Pat - Most Requested Country Songs (LP)

    25,00

    • Ultra rare country / hardcore honky-tonk masterpiece from 1969
    • A beyond essential shoulda-been-country-music-classic
    • Carefully restored and remastered sound.
    • Extensive liner notes by Kieron Tyler (Mojo Magazine)
    • Deluxe gatefold sleeve
    • Printed inner sleeve
    • From the same label that brought you the highly acclaimed Rodger Wilhoit and Richard Gibbs
    deluxe reissues
Just over ten seconds in, Most Requested Country Songs sets itself apart. It’s quickly clear this is an album with its own flavour, one placing country music archetypes in a fresh setting. It’s the voice which hits home so soon after the record begins. Keening and lilting yet melodic, with a passion belying an ease of delivery. The vocal edge is a little like that of Willie Nelson, and the music has a honky-tonk forthrightness. Above all, an intensity telegraphs sincerity.
Yet Pat Patterson’s March 1969 album slipped between the cracks. Original copies barely ever come up for sale. When they do, they are instantly bought. Awareness of its distinctiveness isn’t widespread, but this first-ever reissue will amend that.
Sweden’s Sweet Mental Revenge Records -who previously gave you the highly acclaimed Rodger Wilhoit and Richard Gibbs deluxe reissues- now set full focus on Pat Patterson.
Hardcore honky-tonk rarely hits harder or comes finer than on original tracks like “Wait Just A Minute” or “Life Can Go On With A Heartache”.
“She’s Not You” will instantly make you hit honky tonk hardwood floor while Pat Patterson’s take on “See The Big Man Cry” is monumental sadness and self-pity.
This magnificent album is as American as the music in its grooves – booze, pills, hate and aggression.
In the extensive liner notes the full story of Pat Patterson is finally revealed.
Deluxe packaging and remastering – no expenses saved – in true Sweet Mental Revenge style.
