  • Tall Boys - One (Käytetty CD)

    20,00

After breaking free from the original Meteors line-up, Nigel Lewis and Mark Robertson blazed another trail with the Tall Boys. They rocked beyond compare until the final kick in 1987, leaving behind a scattered discography. Besides some live appearances and demo recordings in the following decade, the band was a dormant volcano. Now fast forward to 2008 when Drunkabilly released the latest Nigel Lewis and The Zorchmen album. During the tours that followed a few Tall Boys classics were part of the live set. Needless to say the punters loved it! This triggered a much anticipated reunion of Nigel, Mark and Tall Boys lead guitarist from the get-go: Jez Alan. Added to the ranks is Belgian bass heavyweight Jens de Waele, known from cult bands such as Death Valley Surfers and Fifty Foot Combo. These gents had a plan: finally record the first full-length Tall Boys studio album. They pulled out all the stops, went to Doyle’s Camden Recording Studios for a proper sound and nailed fourteen songs – old, new, borrowed and brewed. One” is as genre-defying as ever in trademark Tall Boys style, which also shines through in salutes to Link Wray, The Gun Club and 77 punk (yes, the biggest Adverts hit). Moreover the folkabilly rendition of crowd favourite ”Ride This Torpedo” is a double-decker buzz! Before the groove locks, the 60’s murder shuffle ”psycho” forms a twisted epilogue for an album that’s one of a kind. This ”One” is beyond the pale for stuck-up purists, but a marvelous ride for rock & roll daredevils.”

  • Bullet Biters - Stranglers United (Digipak) (Käytetty CD)

    25,00

”Bullet Biters on kyntänyt rock-pitoista eli kivistä peltoaan jo vuodesta 2004. Yhtyeellä on tietyissä mikroskooppisen pienissä alakulttuuriympyröissään tiukan live-bändin maine. Tähän asti tätä nykyään niin harvinaista luonnonvaraa eli yhteissoiton ja kannikoille potkivan takapotkun yhdistelmää on varjeltu melko salaisissa agenttipiireissä. Tänä vuonna asiaan tulee pientä edistystä ― matka jatkuu mitättömyydestä kohti keskinkertaisuutta, kun orkesteri äkistää maailmaan ensimmäisen täyspitkän tuotoksensa.Huhtikuussa 2013 oululainen asialliseen musiikkiin keskittynyt, mutta salamyhkäinen levy-yhtiö Mielilevyt julkaisee BB:n ensimmäisen täyspitkän albumin ”Stranglers United”. Levy koostuu kahdestatoista omin pikku kätösin askarrellusta laulusta, jotka on äänitetty enimmäkseen kemiläisellä Tico-Tico-studiolla, joka on tunnettu pääasiassa raskaamman rockin äänitysosaamisestaan. Levyn formaatti on CD ja se on kääritty hienoon digipak-pakettiin, jonka fantastiset grafiikat on loihtinut old skool -tyyliin sotkamolainen Thomba Mähönen.Kesällä 2013 Bullet Biters esiintyy 21. kertaa järjestettävien Psychobilly Meeting -festivaalien päälavalla Barcelonassa Espanjassa. Kevään aikana yhtye keikkailee myös kotimaassa järjestettävissä alan tapahtumissa, mm. Tampereen Club Sin -bileissä 27.4.2013.The Bullet Biters on Mihail the Morbid – kitara, laulu Kazakhstan Playboy – kontrabasso Jake of Texas – rummut”

  • Presley Elvis - Things Get Loose In Tuscaloosa! (Käytetty CD)

    20,00

Tuesday, June 3, 1975, 8:30 pm, Municipal Auditorium, Tuscaloosa, ALAfter the release of two essential new soundboard albums in a row (Houston We Have A Problem and The Creeping Crud Express) Audionics is now back with the third soundboard release of the year. This time the producers selected the Tuscaloosa show from June 3rd 1975, which was previously released on the King label as Deep Down South in 1997. This new release was taken from a different, superior quality tape source which was obtained at the same time as the previously mentioned unreleased soundboards.Elvis’ show in Tuscaloosa is a real fun concert that is a delight to listen to. His singing is excellent, he’s in a good mood and he clearly loves the interplay with his fans. His setlist during the June 1975 tour was a rather strong one, with a solid mix of classics and more recent numbers. Most of these were performed really well too, and even the oldies were treated with a bit more respect than usual. Keen observers will note that he dropped the tempo a notch or two on songs like All Shook Up and Teddy Bear / Don’t Be Cruel. The King was truly back, and he really rocked Tuscaloosa with great dynamic performances like Burning Love, Mystery Train / Tiger Man and, just for tonight, a gorgeous Bridge Over Troubled Water. This CD is presented in beautifully designed deluxe digi-pak with relevant liner notes and a couple of rare photos as taken on the night. Due to the lack of quality photographs from Tuscaloosa, we also used a few photos from the Huntsville, AL, May 31st 8:30 pm show. Elvis only wore the Red Eagle (or Red Phoenix) jumpsuit on these two nights. We know what you want to ask now.. ’Is this really a significant sound upgrade?’, and to that we can only answer wholeheartedly, yes! Firstly, because we were able to work from a superior tape source, and secondly, because the sonic improvement of soundboard tapes has made real quantum leaps since 1997. We are very proud of the sound that we got out of this new tape source. And while we can’t go back and touch the past”, this great new Audionics release is the next best thing to actually being there that special night in Tuscaloosa.Note: Audionics is planning a special release before the end of this year, with more previously unissued material. While the other import guys appear to be in hybernation, we are only just warming up! You can always count on Audionics to deliver the goods.”

  • Presley Elvis - Mood Swings (2CD) (Käytetty CD)

    60,00

The third release from Rock Legends is ” Mood Swings ” featuring the infamous closing show recorded from the soundboard in Las Vegas, NV on September 2, 1974. The sound quality is a major improvement over the first issue and will contain too the first song performed by Voice titled ” I Couldn’t Live Without You ” that was missing on the original. We didn’t want the show to start with dialogue instead of music we have spliced in a version of ” C.C. Rider ” recorded less than a month after this one. Elvis’ mood swings were legendary during this period of time, and perhaps a bit over the edge on this one. The sound improvement makes it more pleasant as a muffled sound always make a recording sounding less than it was in reality. It will never be his best concert but definitely one of his best representation. As a bonus the second CD features the complete August 20, 1973 M.S., a totally different mood and one of the best ever audience recordings released, and superior to many soundboard recordings.

  • Waters Muddy - Electric Mud (Gatefold Sleeve) (LP)

    29,90

”In an attempt to make Muddy more sellable to his newly found white audience, Chess lumbered him with Hendrix-influenced psychedelic blues arrangements for Electric Mud. Commercially, actually, the results weren’t bad; Marshall Chess claims it sold between 150,000 and 200,000 copies. Musically, it was as ill-advised as putting Dustin Hoffman into a Star Wars epic. Guitarists Pete Cosey and Phil Upchurch are very talented players, but Muddy’s brand of down-home electric blues suffered greatly at the hands of extended fuzzy solos. Muddy and band overhaul classics like ”I Just Want to Make Love to You” and ”Hoochie Coochie Man,” and do a ludicrous cover of ”Let’s Spend the Night Together”; wah-wah guitars and occasional wailing soprano sax bounce around like loose basketballs. It’s a classically wrongheaded, crass update of the blues for a modern audience.”

  • Presley Elvis - Las Vegas March 1975 Happening 2CD (Käytetty CD)

    40,00

”The Elvis Presley Show was a HAPPENING and first Spring appearance in Sin City since 1956 was no different. The 50s gig was definitely way above in terms of performance, but nonetheless a flop at the time. Wrong place, wrong moment ! Tons of water had flown under the bridge since May 1956, and by 1969 he became and established himself as the King Of Vegas.March 1975 wasn’t a flop although he had health problems, but still came in an excellent mood and rich of new studio material recorded about a week before. He was away from Las Vegas since September 1974, but he opened this Season with some of his new songs ; And I Love You So, Green Green Grass Of Home and Fairytale. T-R-O-U-B-L-E would wait up to his next tour before entering his song list as a regular number, whilst the odd Shake A Hand and Pieces Of My Life were performed a bit later during the July 1975 tour. Some material from the strong December 1973 sessions like Promised Land , It’s Midnight and My Boy were incorporated along some unrehearsed moments to his basic program. The first CD features the nearly complete pre-show, and on the second CD the March 22, 1975 Midnight performance along with some bonus tracks recorded three nights earlier. The March 22, 1975 MS has been released twice but our source is definitely from an earlier generation. The very short Joe Orchestra introduction before the Also Sprach Zarathustra is not on the aforementioned releases and presence of vocal distortion in Elvis’ vocal is rather smooth and less annoying than it was before. This new digipack double set will be a very LIMITED EDITION and first intended for the fans who didn’t have these recordings, or all the ones wanting the COMPLETE HAPPENING.CD1) Tracks 1-6 recorded in Las Vegas March 19, 1975 D.S.Tracks 2-3 performed by Voice Tracks 4-5 performed by The Sweet Inspirations Track 6 performed by Jacki Kahane CD2) racks 1-4 recorded in Las Vegas March 20, 1975 D.S. Live Recorded on October 17, 1976 in Minneapolis. The October tour in 1976 wasn’t by far the best of Elvis, but it showed that he made a step in the right direction. His physical appearance had much improved since summer when he probably looked his worst ever. Much more important was the quality of his concerts also changed for the better. During the tour in fall ’76 he gave some good shows with some strong versions.Unfortunately the original release from FTD A Minnesota Moment” left a lot to be desired. It sounded flat, muffled, lifeless and very hissy. The soundquality was dissapointing as was the ’artwork’ which showed on top an outrageous bad done photoshop job with Elvis’ left hand. The VERVE Team did everything to improve the overal sound and as a result you’ll get to hear a soundboard recording that should have sounded in the first place. Now you can hear the show for the first time in the best possible soundquality. Hopefully you can enjoy the concert now as much as we do while reading and flipping the sixteen pages of the booklet. ___ All tracks recorded on October 17, 1976 in Minneapolis, except those marked with a ’*’ which were recorded on November 30, 1976 in Anaheim.”

  • Burch Paul - Fevers (Käytetty CD)

”Fevers is songwriter/guitarist Paul Burch’s debut album for Plowboy Records. Co-produced with bandmate and multi-instrumentalist Fats Kaplin at the songwriter’s Pan-American studio in Nashville, Burch wrote all but two tunes on the 13-song set that moves through honky tonk, rockabilly, country swing, string band blues, and vintage R&B. His killer band, WPA Ballclub, often slips the trappings of a tune’s given style to graft on another one seamlessly. Each song was arranged around a central instrument, and Burch (ever the analog junkie) taped various takes live, just as rehearsals were gelling. The vibe is relaxed but kinetic, live yet perfectly aurally balanced. The punchy, reverb-drenched rockabilly of ”Couldn’t Get a Witness” pushes the margin of the form into jump blues. ”Straight Tears, No Chaser” is pure Bakersfield honky tonk, with a fine harmony vocal by Kristi Rose and a singing steel guitar by Kaplin. ”Two Trains Pullin'” weds an early R&B feel to proto rock & roll — while its lyrics offer a nod to the blues of Jimmy Rogers, the tune’s sweet spot is the meld of Burch’s voice with a harmony vocal by Jen Gunderman. Speaking of harmony, Kelly Hogan lends hers to the stellar cover of Tennessee Ernie Ford’s ”Ocean of Tears.” Hogan, singing through the same mike, plays the role of vocalist Kay Starr from the original. ”Breakin’ in a Brand New Heartache”’s use of a Rhodes piano weds country boogie to Memphis rhythm & blues à la Wilbert Harrison. The interplay between Burch’s voice and Kaplin’s fiddle on ”(I Love) A Melancholy Baby” elevates one of the set’s two lovely ballads; the other is the poetic, midtempo ”Sagrada,” which weds mariachi to country (and features the best lyrics on the album). The reading of ”I’m Going to Memphis” combines both Johnny Cash’s and Memphis Slim’s versions simultaneously. Choogling acoustic two-step country introduces electric guitars, drums, and bass, transforming it into a strutting juke joint blues. On ”Sac au Lait,” Burch channels Hank Williams’ ”On the Bayou” feel, with a party-time Cajun fiddle by Kaplin. On Fevers, the vibe is electrifying: the sound is round and warm, the playing red hot. Paul Burch & the WPA Ballclub rip it up on a fine group of songs to create what they like to call ”American Groove.””

  • Masaaki Hirao And His All Stars Wagon - Nippon Rock`n`Roll-The Birth Of Japanese Rokabirii 1958-1960 (Käytetty CD)

    11,00

””Nippon Rock’n’Roll” documents the rise of Masaaki Hirao. Dubbed ”The Japanese Elvis”, Hirao was one of the famed Rokabirii Sannin Otoko (Three Rockabillies), alongside singers Mickey Curtis and ”Kei-chan”, Keijiro Yamashita. In early 1958, the rokabirii buumu (rockabilly boom) was born, the first youth music tribe in the Land Of The Rising Sun.Rokabirii may resemble US rockabilly, but this Nipponese version is a more varied dish. Hirao and his band’s covers of Eddie Cochran, Elvis Presley and Little Richard are not kitsch renditions, but raw, desperate rockers. Hear a Paul Anka makeover, but put through a rocking mangle; a smattering of jazz; a twist of New Orleans; and some Japanese folk songs with a greased-down quiff. American occupation a distant memory, these boys wanted to party.Country and hillbilly music was a mainstay of young Japanese musicians working the GI base and jazz café circuit of the 1950s. Following the runaway success of a Japanese cover of ’Heartbreak Hotel’ (Hirao’s version here has dynamite in its teeth), demand grew for more of this strange, new music. The need was met with a huge gala, the Nichigeki Western Carnival, which showcased the new rokabirii groups to thousands of screaming Japanese teenagers. Wild footage of the concerts, alongside that of burgeoning radical student movements, put fear of a wave of delinquency into the heart of the establishment. The studio numbers here are hardboiled, with unkempt live recordings that really rock. Tough drums back up honking sax, in a pedal steel pandemonium with slap bass. In the words of Elvis: these guys ”get real gone”. By Howard Williams”
