Batmobile - Brand New Blisters (CD)
€11,00The Dutch cult formation BATMOBILE will release their newest album Brand New Blisters on Friday March 3, 2017. It’s their first full-length release since the album Welcome To Planet Cheese which came out in 1997. The release of the new record of these internationally recognized Psychobilly heroes will be celebrated during the fourth edition of the Scumbash Festival. This festival is hosted by the notorious barbers of the Rotterdam based barbershop Schorem. Since the first edition of Scumbash, Batmobile has been the festival’s Artist In Residence.
Brand New Blisters is the result of 6 months of hard work in the Shitpit Studio owned by Jeroen. The album is mastered by the illustrious Hay Zeelen, who also worked for Sepultura, Joe Jackson and Beth Hart to name a few. The great artwork has been made by Pieter M. Dorrenboom, since 1984 the band’s art designer and responsible for a.o. the band’s logo and most of their album covers. The album will be released on CD by Butler Records. Music on Vinyl will take care of the vinyl edition, the first pressing will be available on yellow vinyl.
Batmobile was founded in 1983 by Jeroen Haamers (vocals/guitar), Johnny Zuidhof (drums) and Eric Haamers (doublebass). After a few months of covering old rockabilly tunes, they decided to start writing their own material, leading to the release of their self titled debut album in 1985. This release led to considerable (inter)national recognition, leading to years of touring in the Benelux, Germany, England, France, Japan, Scandinavia, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and the USA.
The release of two Tribute to Batmobile albums on a Japanese record label, featuring cover versions of Batmobile songs German, Russian, Swedish, Hungarian, Dutch and American bands, shows the international success of the band. To this day, the band tours internationally and they recently were guests on Dutch national TV and Russian TV.

Various - Beat From Badsville – Even More Trash Classics From Lux & Ivy`s Vinyl Mountain Vol. 4 (2LP) (10``LP)
€15,00Brought up on the radio shows of the legendary rock ’n’
roll DJs, the moondogging Alan Freed, Mad Daddy and,
later, the ghostly Ghoulardi, it was hardly surprising that
The Cramps’ Lux Interior and Poison Ivy began trawling
the thrift stores for juvenile delinquent tunes, lip curling
bad boy rock ’n’ roll, strange exotica, bizarre novelty
45s, dysfunctional doo wop, psychedelic weirdness and
instrumentals made by madmen. In America in the 1950s
and 1960s there seemed to be small town versions of
such vinyl madness everywhere that, by the 1970s were
remaindered and to the majority of people unwanted. To
the fledgling Cramps this was nothing short of heaven.
The duo filled their house with novelty memorabilia,
schlock horror furniture and a record collection to die
for. Lux eventually gravitated to his own Purple Knif
Radio show and the Cramps delivered their versions of
some of the stuff they’d found. The duo name-checked
many a 45 along the way and seeking them out and
sampling their eccentricities is nothing short of mind
blowing. This 24-track collection positively effervesces with
eccentricity. Again the vinyl only double-10“ is divided
into 4 themes: „The Rock`n´Rollers“, „New Dance
Trend“, „Instrumentals“ and „The Mad Daddies“.
Every track pirouettes dangerously and at times hap
hazardly around the expected. These are songs for
strange times by what can definitely be considered
strange people. Gems and nuggets that sparkle even
more bright in today’s manufactured music maelstrom.
The population of Badsville welcomes you aboard. -

Movie - Last Of The The Mississippi Jukes (DVD + Bonus soundtrack CD) (DVD)
€20,00Robert Mugge’s 2003 music documentary, LAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI JUKES, explores the fading traditions of rural Mississippi juke joints. The blues was first played by itinerant musicians in juke joints on the edge of cotton plantations, later migrating into so-called urban lounges, and regional musicians still practice their craft and entertain their fans in both, as well as in modern blues clubs and casino lounges. The film focuses, in particular, on two well-known Mississippi venues: Jimmy King’s legendary Subway Lounge which, for three decades, operated in the basement of the historic, black-owned Summers Hotel in Jackson, MS; and actor Morgan Freeman’s and attorney Bill Luckett’s Ground Zero Blues Club, a contemporary blues venue in Clarksdale, MS that incorporates the design elements, menu, and spirit of a traditional juke. The story of Mississippi jukes is told by blues historians Dick Waterman and Steve Cheseborough, by the club owners, by local politicians, and by participating musicians. The musicians also demonstrate styles of blues that originated in the Mississippi Delta and elsewhere around the state. For instance, performing at Ground Zero Blues Club in Clarksdale are Alvin Youngblood Hart with Sam Carr and Anthony Sherrod. Performing at the Subway Lounge in Jackson are Bobby Rush, Chris Thomas King, Vasti Jackson, Patrice Moncell, Eddie Cotton, Greg ”Fingers” Taylor, Lucille, Abdul Rasheed, Levon Lindsey, J.T. Watkins, Dennis Fountain, Pat Brown, George Jackson, Steve Cheseborough, Casey Phillips, Jimmy King, David Hughes, Virgil Brawley, and the Subway’s two alternating house bands: the House Rockers and the King Edward Blues Band. LAST OF THE MISSISSIPPI JUKES looks at the buildings, the landscapes, and the communities where the blues began, and it examines how original blues traditions have evolved over time, carried into a new century by committed musicians and club owners, both in Mississippi and around the world.

Jay Willie Blues Band - Hell On Wheels (CD)
€9,99DESCRIPTION
I love this record and the musicians who support the Jay Willie Blues Band. The band has been performing together for over a decade and includes some of New England’s most impressive performers. Vocalist Malorie Leogrande is a performing five-octave range vocalist who holds a MALS degree in Arts and Humanities from Wesleyan University. Drummer Bobby T Torello has been the driving force of bands featuring Michael Bolton, Jefferson Starship’s Grace Slick and the iconic bluesman Johnny Winter. He’s toured the globe sharing the stage with Aerosmith, Foreigner and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Recently I had the honor of performing with Bobby and former Winter bassist Jon Paris at BB Kings Club in New York City to pay a special tribute to the late Johnny Winter’s 72th birthday celebration. Bassist Steve Clarke has performed with two-time Grammy nominee Sherry Winston, The Coasters, The Drifters, Mary Wells, Sam & Dave, toured Europe with trumpeter Laco Deczi’s & Celula New York band and the Chris Tofield Blues Band. Vocalist and Guitarist Bob Callahan has shared the stage with prominent musicians including James Cotton, Matt Murphy, Colin Tilton, Andy Powell, and James Montgomery. Saxophonist Teddy Yakush can be seen regularly with many local bands performing varied genres of music. This is the fourth consecutive Jay Willie Blues Band album which features blues harmonica ace Jason Ricci. Jason has had some great career successes since our ZOHO previous release ”Johnny’s’ Juke Joint” (ZOHO ZM 201510). Most notably, Jason contributed to the Johnny Winter 2015 Grammy-winning Best Blues Album ”Step Back”. Jason also performed at the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction of The Paul Butterfield Blues Band where he gave a slaying performance of ”Born In Chicago” along with Tom Morello on guitar and Zac Brown on vocals.
