  • Voodoo Dolls - Poison In Your Drink 1983 – 1986 (Green) (LP)

    29,50

    • First ever reissue of pioneer psychobilly/garage rock legends Voodoo Dolls

    • Essential to everyone into first wave psychobilly, rockabilly and 80’s garage rock

    • Deluxe reissue richly illustrated with rare photos and memorabilia.

    • Liner notes by Kieron Tyler (Mojo Magazine)

    • Carefully restored and remastered sound

    • Colored vinyl

    • Limited edition (300 copies vinyl / 400 copies CD).

Voodoo Dolls – from Sweden, not to be confused with any other band also using the name – burned fast, and burned bright. Formed in 1983 and splitting three years later, they issued one LP, a mini-LP and a seven-inch EP. Though inspired by rockabilly and travelling through the psychobilly landscape, they ploughed their own furrow – diving into freakbeat and soul while never straying far from their inspirations. In their world, rough-edged band originals like the swinger “Split Personality” and the untrammelled “Vampireville” sat alongside distinctive covers of CCR’s “Bad Moon Rising” and Gloria Jones via Soft Cell via Dave Phillips & the Hot Rod Gang’s “Tainted Love”.

Poison In Your Drink 1983-1986 collects the essentials. There are even three previously unheard cuts: a romp through Swedish Sixties oddball’s Annabee-Nox’s “Bo Bo Boogie Pack”, a grindingly brutal version of Don Cole’s 1961 single “Lie Detector Machine” and a stuttering take on the obscure 1958 Bill Allen & The Backbeats B-side “Please Give Me Something”.

Sweden had a booming garage rock scene but Voodoo Dolls stood apart. No one else there was musically reframing the past for the Eighties in this way. L-P Anderson (bass, vocals), Danny Engström (aka Danny Boy: guitar, vocals), drummer Leif Ekring (aka Spunk) and his replacement Pontus Hansson and short-stay early singer Eric Kearley did not respect musical boundaries. And when they had said what they needed to say, it was time to call it a day.

This LP features previously unissued tracks and their lone 1965 single – all bookended by two savage versions of the title track! “Don’t Be Surprised” and their hyper-rare Wal-Mor 45 gave The Satyrs some serious weight in record collecting circles and among garage rock aficionados. The discovery of their lost studio sessions beefed that weight to a metric-shit-ton! There are anthems here; songs of love and loss, hope and disenchantment.

  • Vaqueros - 80 Foot Wave (LP)

A tidal wave of Minny-beat garage from all incarnations of the carnivorous Vaqueros! Like Twin City neapolitan ice cream, surf instros, Linda Anderson vocal surf-rock cuts, and John Grizzard’s grizzly garage cuts add three splendid flavors all in one sonic carton! On turquoise vinyl!

Whether it was the blistering surf guitar licks of Terry Schmidt on “80 Foot Wave” & “Jonah,” Linda Anderson doing her over-caffeinated Wanda Jackson on “Baby Baby,” or John Grizzard’s gritty, Sonics-esque sound, this band was something special! We’re just glad they never changed their name so we could group the vast variety of gems the Vaqueros cranked out all onto one fantastic, largely unissued album!

Along with Minneapolis greats Gypsy, the Litter, Jokers Wild and many more, the Vaqueros recorded at Kay Bank Studios, a relatively short-lived studio that produced some of the best hits of the 60s. “Liar, Liar” by the Castaways was recorded there, along with the Trashmen’s famed “Surfin’ Bird.” The Vaqueros, though landlocked, produced some of the best surf music during that era, and along with a smattering of upbeat garage rock, it’s surely a record you won’t want to miss.

This summer, Bobby Rush returns with his 29th studio album All My Love For You. Steeped in his signature blues, southern soul, and funk-blues, Rush blends vivid storytelling about his life with comical metaphors about love and relationships. Across the album’s ten tracks, Rush puts the breadth of his songwriting capabilities on display and proclaims ”I’ve got the shackles off my feet, chains off my mind” on the album opener ”I’m Free” and ”I’m the one who put the funk in the blues” on the single ”I’m the One.” On tracks like ”You Gonna Need a Man Like Me” and ”One Monkey Can Stop A Show,” he digs into the nuance of love and relationships. After earning his second GRAMMY Award for his solo acoustic blues album Rawer than Raw in 2021, he leans into the soul and funky southern blues that he’s known for.

  • Supertubos! - The Fourth Drive! (LP)

    20,00

The Fourth Drive is Supertubos’ fourth album. Their best work to date, in it they have managed to combine their musical tastes and their extensive experience after their time in previous groups, all of them focused on rock and roll, surf, garage… This installment of eight tracks places them at the top of the instrumental music you can imagine. The impact of Supertubos has crossed our borders and has been played on American radio stations. The quality of the recording in the Circo Perrotti studios guarantees the songs that you can enjoy surfing from Barbados to France passing through Cantabria, which has endorsed their overwhelming live performances with surgeon-like precision.
“Magnetika” will catch you without you realizing it, “Hamburg 61” will not be able to get it out of your brain, “Fourth Wave” will transport you quickly to the shore; “Experiment in Terror” demonstrates a logical reference and that is why they recreate Henry Mancini, as well as the nods to Stereolab and Avengers VI in “French Bomb”.
Refreshing sounds, frenetic rhythms and a perfect balance is all you will find on this new album. Immerse yourself with Supertubos and let yourself go.

”Field Recordings from the Collection of Mack McCormick 58–71”

In the 1950s and 60s, the blues was the dominant form of Black vernacular music throughout Texas and

the surrounding areas. In segregated neighborhoods, community members gathered in saloons, dancehalls, and each other’s homes to hear their neighbors sing their stories of sorrow, heartbreak, jubilation, and triumph. Robert ”Mack” McCormick, an academically untrained but fanatical devotee of the blues, stepped into this world and became one of its most devout advocates and documentarians. By photographing Black and Latino Texans and their neighborhoods, as well as recording and interviewing musicians-many of whom never stepped foot into a proper recording studio-McCormick endeared and eventually embedded himself into these communities. By the time he died in 2015, McCormick had amassed a collection of 590 reels of sound recordings and 165 boxes of manuscripts, original interviews and research notes, thousands of photographs and negatives, playbills, and posters. Because McCormick never published or released most of these materials, his collection became a thing of legend and intense speculation among scholars, blues aficionados, and musicians alike. Playing for the Man at the Door: Field Recordings from the Collection of Mack McCormick, 1958-1971 is the first compilation of music drawn from this fabled collection, which indelibly documents a pivotal moment in African American history. It features never-before-heard performances not only from musicians who became icons in their own right-including Lightnin’ Hopkins and Mance Lipscomb-but also, crucially, performers whose names may be unfamiliar to even the most devoted blues fans and scholars. Newly mastered recordings and accompanying photographs bring to life many of these forgotten figures: offering insight into their lives and illuminating in new, enlightening ways their joys and anguish, deep social connections, distinctive voices, and cultural networks. The collection spans gospels, ragtime, country blues dirges, the unclassifiable music of George ”Bongo Joe” Coleman, and more, showing that no community, no matter how tight knit, is monolithic. Accompanying the music is a 128-page book, which contains breathtaking photographs by McCormick and his associates, as well as contextual essays by producers Jeff Place and John Troutman on McCormick’s life, and by musicians Mark Puryear and Dom Flemons on some of the marginalized communities throughout ”Greater Texas” to which McCormick devoted his life’s work. This release is a partnership with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.

HeadCat is an American rockabilly supergroup formed by vocalist/bassist Lemmy (of Motörhead), drummer Slim Jim Phantom (of The Stray Cats) and guitarist Danny B. Harvey (of Lonesome Spurs and The Rockats). The band was formed after recording the Elvis Presley tribute album by Swing Cats ’A Special Tribute to Elvis’ in July 1999, to which the future bandmates all contributed. After recordings were finished they stayed at the studio and Lemmy picked up an acoustic guitar and started playing some of his old favourite songs by Johnny Cash, Buddy Holly, and Eddie Cochran. The rest of the guys knew them all and joined in. The name of the band was created by combining the names Motörhead, The Stray Cats, and 13 Cats, which resulted in HeadCat. ’Live In Berlin’ is a previously unreleased live concert which was recorded at the Huxley’s in Berlin, Germany on 18th October 2011. It was produced by the band and mastered by guitarist Danny B Harvey.
