€25,00Quick View”Bullet Biters on kyntänyt rock-pitoista eli kivistä peltoaan jo vuodesta 2004. Alussa oli suo, kuokka ja muutama paska rockabilly-cover. Nyt meininki rullaa eteenpäin kuin naapurin muorin ruumis kempeleläisessä alamäessä. Vuosien varrella pohjoisen preerian tuulet ovat lennättäneet urhojemme eteen monenlaisia vitsauksia, ja välillä on tuoreena höyryävää kakkendaaliakin lentänyt tuulettimeen. Nämä Oulun vajaamieliset eivät ole pienistä vastoinkäymisistä eivätkä edes viikatemiehen oveen kolkutteluista hätkähtäneet. Eivätkä varsinkaan ymmärtäneet luovuttaa. Psychobillyn vinksahtanutta ilosanomaa on ehditty saarnata lukemattomissa pirteissä, ja hartaan keikkailun tuloksena onkin vaivihkaa kehittynyt omaperäinen ja tiukasti rullaava rytmi.Yhtyeellä on tietyissä mikroskooppisen pienissä alakulttuuriympyröissään tiukan live-bändin maine. Tähän asti tätä nykyään niin harvinaista luonnonvaraa eli yhteissoiton ja kannikoille potkivan takapotkun yhdistelmää on varjeltu melko salaisissa agenttipiireissä. Tänä vuonna asiaan tulee pientä edistystä ― matka jatkuu mitättömyydestä kohti keskinkertaisuutta, kun orkesteri äkistää maailmaan ensimmäisen täyspitkän tuotoksensa.Huhtikuussa 2013 oululainen asialliseen musiikkiin keskittynyt, mutta salamyhkäinen levy-yhtiö Mielilevyt julkaisee BB:n ensimmäisen täyspitkän albumin ”Stranglers United”. Levy koostuu kahdestatoista omin pikku kätösin askarrellusta laulusta, jotka on äänitetty enimmäkseen kemiläisellä Tico-Tico-studiolla, joka on tunnettu pääasiassa raskaamman rockin äänitysosaamisestaan. Levyn formaatti on CD ja se on kääritty hienoon digipak-pakettiin, jonka fantastiset grafiikat on loihtinut old skool -tyyliin sotkamolainen Thomba Mähönen.Kesällä 2013 Bullet Biters esiintyy 21. kertaa järjestettävien Psychobilly Meeting -festivaalien päälavalla Barcelonassa Espanjassa. Kevään aikana yhtye keikkailee myös kotimaassa järjestettävissä alan tapahtumissa, mm. Jackson Stonewall - That’s Why I’m Walkin’ – Singles As & Bs, 1957-1962 (CD)
€15,00Quick ViewErnest Tubb – who has his own Jasmine release this month – was a great benefactor to up and coming artists and helped many a young wannabe on their way to superstardom. One whose early career benefitted greatly from ET’s friendship and sponsorship was 50s/60s hit maker Stonewall Jackson, who spent his early years in Nashville working with ET’s touring company after becoming the first unsigned artist to be made a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
ET also helped Stonewall land his first record deal – one that would bring him 43 hits during 15 years with the same label, including such classic genre staples as ’Waterloo’, ’Don’t Be Angry’, ’(That’s) Why I’m Walkin’ and ’A Wound Time Can’t Erase’.
This new Jasmine package brings you the A and B sides of Stonewall’s first 16 singles, which between them racked up 15 country Top 30 hits – some of which were the A and B sides of the same single. The timeframe is early 1957 to late 1962, but Stonewall would take that chart consistency forward for a further 11 years. Even without further hits he remained one of country’s most popular figures, and was still on the Grand Ole Opry more than 60 years after he made his debut there.
All fans of uncompromisingly hard-core country will find much to enjoy in the Jasmine collection – remastered, as always, from the finest available sources. Many of these songs have been revived over the years by a newer generation of country artists (including George Strait and Dwight Yoakam, to name but two) – a tribute the timelessness of both the songs and the man who originally made them famous, Stonewall Jackson…
