Eddie Cochran was truly Somethin’ Else. He had the look. He had the talent. He had the attitude. He played

guitar–really played guitar. He produced his own records. He wrote his own songs. And he died too soon,

leaving the tantalizing promise of what might have been. Eddie Cochran was no prefabricated teen idol. He

controlled his music in a way that few early rock ’n’ rollers could or did. He lived in the studio and explored its

potential, and, as rock ’n’ roll changed, he changed with it. His death in 1960 was a tragic loss.

This is the most comprehensive Eddie Cochran compilation ever assembled!

  • Nelson Ricky - The American Dream – The Complete Imperial & Verve Recordings 1957-1962 (6CD Boxset) (CD)

TÄYDELLINEN !! Mukana mahtava kovakantinen kirja!!

ABOUT RICKY NELSON…They call me a teenage idol…” Ricky Nelson sang in 1962. And of course he was the prototypical teenage idol. Already one of the most familiar faces on American television, he cut his first single at the age of seventeen. That single, I’m Walkin’, quickly amassed impressive sales and launched a career that would span three decades. A fan of Sun rockabilly, Ricky assembled his own band with a fabulous rock ’n’ roll sound, featuring guitarist James Burton, who would join him in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He drew songs from some of the era’s greatest writers, including Johnny and Dorsey Burnette, Baker Knight, Gene Pitney, and Johnny Cash

And just in case anyone thought that the family sitcom made Ricky Nelson a star, it’s worth remembering that the show wasn’t broadcast outside the United States, but Ricky was an international star, an influence on Cliff Richard, and an early favorite of Paul McCartney, among many others.

ABOUT THIS BOXED SET…Twenty-five years in the making! Ever since Bear Family Records started, we’ve wanted to do the complete Ricky Nelson recordings on Verve and Imperial. Few artists had the consistency …and few were as influential. But we didn’t want to do an incomplete job so we waited until we had access to all the original masters and session tapes so that we could do it absolutely right. Now we’re ready, and here’s what we found!

    * Every Rick Nelson recording for Verve and Imperial in pristine original sound quality from the original tapes!

    * The very rare Challenge recordings with the FLEAS and THROPHIES featuring Ricky.

    * Many titles in stereo as well as mono!

    * Many previously unissued alternate takes, not included on the recent boxed set or elsewhere!

    * Sessions with false starts and incomplete takes. We’ll take you to Master Recorders for a Ricky Nelson session!

    * Rare TV performances, including duets with Lorrie Collins of the Collins Kids.

    * Rare movie performances including a duet with Dean Martin!

    * An incredible hardcover book with many previously unpublished photos and a newly researched biography by Los Angeles-based music journalist Todd Everett!

    * New 3-track mixes by Bill Inglot. Do we need to say more? * Yes we do: The production and final mastering is done by the ’One and Only Bob Jones!’

    * Did we forget to mention hits? They’re all here: I’m Walkin’, Be-Bop Baby, Stood Up, Waitin’ In School, Believe What You Say, My Bucket’s Got A Hole In It, Poor Little Fool, Lonesome Town, I Got A Feelin’, Never Be Anyone Else But You, It’s Late, Just A Little Too Much, Travelin’ Man, Hello Mary Lou, A Wonder Like You, Young World, Teenage Idol, It’s Up To You, Today’s Teardrops…and many more!* = STEREO”

  • Orbison Roy - Orbison 1955 – 1965 7CD Box set (CD)

The ultimate Orbison! Between 1955 and 1965 Roy Orbison revolutionised popular music and these are the recordings that did it! This 7-CD set includes every recording from his golden decade!

Beginning his career as a rockabilly singer on Jew-Wel and Sun Records, Roy scored one hit, Ooby Dooby, and left many great early rare and rockin’ sides behind …Problem Child, Down The Line, Rockhouse, Cat Called Domino... as well as songs he wrote for Buddy Holly, like An Empty Cup and You’ve Got Love. Then Roy’s song Claudette (both early demo’s included here for the first time!) became a hit for the Everly Brothers, and Roy went to Nashville to record first for RCA, then Monument.

At Monument Records, Roy made the most perfectly realised pop music of the early-to-mid Sixties. Bruce Sprinsteen spoke of its mysterious sense of longing.” As Roy’s contemporaries fell to the British Invasion, he went from strength to strength. All of his Monument recordings are complete here for the first time. All the hits, Uptown, Only The Lonely, Blue Angel, I’m Hurtin’, Running Scared, Crying, Candy Man, Dream Baby, In Dreams, Falling, Mean Woman Blues, Blue Bayou, Pretty Paper, It’s Over, Oh Pretty Woman, and more! All the B-sides, including songs that became big hits for other artists, like Today’s Teardrops, Love Hurts, and Distant Drums. And all the album tracks from all the Monument LPs, plus previously unissued alternate takes and rare demo’s! This set concludes with Roy’s first MGM hit, Ride Away from 1965, closing out incredible 10 years…10 years that changed the way popular music was made.

Altogether, this set includes more than 150 recordings, as well as an LP-sized book that includes many previously unseen photographs, a newly researched biography by Colin Escott, and a complete discography.

  • Atkins Chet - Mr. Guitar-The Complete Recordings 1955 – 1960 7CDBox + BOOK (Käytetty CD)

In a career that stretched over a half century, master guitarist Chet Atkins recorded nearly one hundred albums under his own name. Many consider the albums included here, made between 1955 and 1960, as his definitive work. Moving beyond traditional country, Atkins created a vast new audience with ’Chet Atkins In Three Dimensions,’ ’Stringin’ Along With Chet Atkins,’ ’Finger-Style Guitar,’ ’Hi-Fi In Focus’ and ’Chet Atkins At Home.’ They weren’t country albums, though they included country tunes. They weren’t jazz records, but they featured jazz and pop standards. They offered melodies by Bach, Brahms and Chopin, but they were hardly classical records. They included compositions by Ernesto Lecuona, but they’re not flamenco.

This seven-CD box also includes ’Mister Guitar,’ ’Teensville,’ ’Chet Atkins’ Workshop’ and his acoustic Spanish guitar set, ’The Other Chet Atkins.’ Tracks from the orchestrated Living Stereo classic ’Chet Atkins In Hollywood’ appear here in their original, superior 1958 versions. Many other numbers only appeared on singles or EPs, including tracks issued as ’The Rhythm Rockers Featuring Chet Atkins.’ Sixteen RCA Victor masters and alternate takes here were previously unissued. Also included are tracks from two abandoned projects: ’My Brother Sings’ (featuring Jim Atkins on vocals) and an Elvis Presley tribute. Twenty SESAC recordings (never commercially available) and the 1959 ’Hum And Strum’ LP are also included.

This set is the summation of Chet Atkins’ art. Budding and seasoned guitarists alike spent hours with these albums trying to unscramble Atkins’s technique. The list of musicians indebted to his groundbreaking virtuosity is enormous: Jerry Reed, Carl Perkins, Lenny Breau, George Harrison, Dave Edmunds, Mark Knopfler, Doc Watson, Scotty Moore, Marty Stuart, Richard Bennett, Thom Bresh, Leo Kottke, Buster B. Jones, and countless others. The Ventures learned Walk Don’t Run from Atkins’ 1957 recording, included here. Other Atkins staples include The Poor People Of Paris, In The Mood, Tiger Rag, Trambone, Blue Echo, Petite Waltz, Yankee Doodle Dixie, Jitterbug Waltz, Django’s Castle and the rhythmic Boo Boo Stick Beat, which is featured in two versions.

As a bonus, this set includes Atkins’s first-known solo recording (a 1945 demo acetate from WNOX, Knoxville), and all tracks from ’A Most Happy Fella,’ a rare EP featuring Atkins accompanying Eddy Arnold on songs from Frank Loesser’s 1956 musical.

In a 112-page hardcover book, Rich Kienzle documents Atkins’ life and music during these years, including his parallel career as a producer who helped shape the emerging ’Nashville Sound.’
