  • Various - Elvis Presley Connection Vol. 3 (CD)

    18,00

Third compilation on Bear Family Records® offering original recordings that inspired Elvis, plus rare cover versions of famous Elvis tunes – including some from the UK – and quite a few on CD for the first time.
This edition focuses on songs Elvis recorded between 1962 and ’66.
In addition to commercial releases, the CD album provides several demo recordings by Don Robertson and Otis Blackwell, among others.
Cover versions or the original version of songs from Elvis movies, like a Spanish version of Guadalajara from 1949 – sung by Elvis in the 1963 movie ’Fun In Acapulco’.
The full color booklet includes rare photos and memorabilia as well as liner notes by German Presley expert Helmut Radermacher!

The third part of our Elvis story
Where did Elvis Presley take his inspirations from? That’ s the main question behind the concept for this now third compilation. Elvis’ music, his live performances, his Hollywood movies: All of this was unique and influenced generations of musicians. Surprisingly, his influence on the music world of the 1960s hardly diminished, despite the Beatles and Rolling Stones. At the same time, Elvis Presley himself was influenced by other musicians, as this compilation shows! The third edition is dedicated to his creative period from 1962 to 1966, cover versions and originals in chronological order, as Elvis recorded them at the time.

    Rarities, demos, film songs
Some of the often rare recordings appear for the first time on CD! We found rare versions of Elvis songs by Rikki Henderson, Les Carle or Wayne Harris on British and American low budget labels. Famous colleagues from R&B (The Coasters, The Clovers, LaVern Baker and Clyde McPhatter), Country Music (Marty Robbins, The Browns) and Rock ’n’ Roll (Jerry Lee Lewis, Terry Stafford, The Chavis Brothers and the Elvis-like vocal wonder Ral Donner) are also featured. In addition to rare cover versions by the likes of Skip Arne and The Dukes, a number of rare demos are included that were recorded exclusively for Elvis at the time and are accordingly revealing. Some of them were written explicitly for the soundtracks of his films and recorded by Don Robertson, Mort Shuman or Otis Blackwell, a.o.
The CD includes a 36-page full color booklet with many rare pictures and illustrations, as well as an accompanying essay for each song, written by German Elvis Presley expert Helmut Radermacher.

Macon Coliseum, Macon Georgia : August 31, 1976

Now available on vinyl: SOUTHBOUND, originally released in 1998 and featuring the August 31 1976 show from Macon Georgia. The 7th tour of 1976 is not known as being the best tour in Elvis’ career. During this particular show Elvis appeared demotivated. He was definitely struggling to get to the end of this engagement. Most likely the crowd never even noticed this as they go wild like always as Elvis delivered a mediocre performance.

Still, it’s a part of Elvis’ career that deserves a release on vinyl.

22 years after the original CD release it is time for a high quality re-release of this performance. For the very first time this show is now available on a high quality double vinyl set.

The show is newly remastered and updated in the best way possible!  This release is very limited and is available in RED or BLUE vinyl presented in a gatefold sleeve. And of course the show is included on CD too.

For now this is the last reissue in the Luxor classic reissue series. But………… be ready for some nice surprises in the near future.
Get it while you can and add this awesome LUXOR product to your collection.

Viimeisen päälle hyvät soundit. Numbered / ltd 3000 copies! HUOM! Soi kaikilla CD soittimilla

The old adage about Elvis Presley is that his soundtrack work never held a candle next to his studio albums. Though true for a majority of his film-related outings, the traditional notion is forever disproved by his Blue Hawaii set. Originally released in 1961 in support of the film in which he starred, the triple-platinum LP spent nearly five months at the top of the Billboard album charts; outsold his two prior studio efforts; and remains the second-best-selling soundtrack of the musical-dominant 1960s. Presley plunges into a stylistic deep end with equal parts fearlessness and fun, delving into early rock ‘n’ roll, touching balladry, playful rumbas, and relaxing islandinspired fare. The music serves as a showcase of Presley’s outgoing personality and chameleon-like ability – like that of Frank Sinatra – to inhabit different roles and entertain.

Mastered from the original master tapes, Mobile Fidelity’s 180g 45RPM 2LP set and hybrid SACD of Blue Hawaii transport listeners to both the carefree innocent escapism of the early ‘60s and calming, breezy atmospherics of the famous Pacific Islands. If you’ve ever wondered what it might be like to have Presley inhabit your room, these collectible reissues makes it happen via lifelike presence, clarity, immediacy, and transparency. The newly uncovered layers of detail, body, emotionalism, and tonality bring the singer’s treasured voice – as well as the brilliance of the arrangements and accompaniment – to light like never before. In every way, it is a sonic treatment befitting rock royalty.

”180 gramman upea vinyyli paketti! UUSINTAJULKAISU 2013 julkaistusta tupla-albumista. Rajoitettu 2000 kappaleen painos sinisellä vinyylillä.

Riding high on the success of ’Aloha From Hawaii’ (also on vinyl), Elvis did something remarkable. He decided that his next recording project would be on his home turf – Memphis, TN. The most desirable studio in town was the red-hot STAX, the launching pad of such greats as Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave and Isaac Hayes. Elvis assembled the very best musicians in town, members of Booker T. and The MGs, The Memphis Boys and his own TCB band to create the ultimate band and he searched for fresh new material that would reflect his new path. Such songs as ’I Got A Feelin’ In My Body’ and ’Loving Arms’ demonstrate an artist looking to broaden his palette and his reach. The Stax material has never been positioned as a whole body of work, but is an amazing chapter of Elvis’ career. With the ’Elvis At Stax’ release, all of this material is collected for the first time. Along with some of the funky outtakes, it creates a fresh new package that, while it doesn’t have the known hits, tells a great story.”

  • Presley Elvis - SOLD OUT! The Rex Martin 8mm Collection Vol. 14 (2xDVD Set) (DVD)

    40,00

With this new ’Sold Out’, we’re going to have fun, because we are going to take you to the Las Vegas of the early 70s: the sights, the sounds… The extensive Elvis decorations at the Hilton… 8mm film from Elvis’ Summer Festival 1973 is pretty rare, but we have managed to obtain good footage and are presenting it here. Dressed in his ‘Snowflake’ jumpsuit, his repertoire includes a ballsy ‘Steamroller Blues’. Also neat to see Emory Gordy on bass subbing for Jerry Scheff. There’s also great concert footage from 1974, and as always his interplay with the fans is a highlight. When a fan says she’s waited 20 years to get a kiss, he says, “Honey, you must have rusty lips by now!”.
We’ve been asked numerous times to tackle the legendary Pittsburgh 1976 New Year’s Eve show. We obtained the films last year, and had a clean transfer done. All shot from the same angle by the same person. Often there’s beauty in respecting the history of things, which is essentially what we’ve done with this footage. So that’s what you’re getting here – Pittsburgh just as it was filmed that special night so many years ago. Elvis was ready for this New Year’s Eve concert, and this concert stands today as one of his finest performances from the final years.
There’s lots more: Abilene ’77 as filmed by Rex Martin (a fantastic transfer!); Tampa & Atlanta ’75 – fun footage with an animated Elvis; the Las Vegas opening show from August 1975 (GREAT show!); Binghamton ’77 and plenty more. There’s so much to enjoy: Elvis having fun with the audience, with the band…. Teasing Kathy Westmoreland with her ‘see-through blouse’, calling J.D. Sumner ‘Hovie Lister’…. Goosebump-inducing moments, like a gorgeous ‘My Boy’, the LAST version of ‘Suspicious Minds’, a SENSATIONAL ‘How Great Thou Art’, a rare-for-1977 ‘Lawdy Miss Clawdy’, Elvis asking for the lights to be turned on and performing ‘Funny How Time Slips Away’ in one of the most unusual arenas that he played in the seventies (you MUST see this!!)…. All classic Elvis, and you’re getting almost three hours of that on this terrific new ‘Sold Out’ release.
