 The second volume of this 1950s west coast blues great’s recordings completes the Roy Hawkins’ original Modern, RPM and Kent sides on CD.

 Features tracks from his first recording session in 1948 and continues right up to final session in 1961.

 As well as many previously unissued and unreissued master takes, this set also contains never before heard, alternate takes of some of Hawkins’ best-known Modern classics, including his original version of ’The Thrill Is Gone’.

 A phenomenally important and influential blues figure in his day – albeit one who remains remarkably obscure from a biographical viewpoint – Hawkins is a perennial favourite of connoisseurs of cool California blues. This is a very welcome and long-awaited follow-up volume to CDCHD 754.
