In 1959, 16 year old Carl Mann, with a three piece band that included legendary drummer W. S. Holland, walked into Sun Recording Studio in Memphis and recorded 3 takes of the standard song, Mona Lisa. This song was released on the Phillips International label, and became one of the biggest selling Rock and Roll Records of all time, and Carl became the youngest of the red hot Sun Records stable of artists.

Then skip to 2012, Carl partnered with Larry Rogers, who had already produced Rockabilly albums on Iconic artists such as Ricky Nelson and Bill Black’s Combo, and they began recording this project in Carl’s home town of Jackson, Tennessee, at Jaxon Records Studio, located in downtown Jackson. Carl and Larry also went to Studio 19 in Nashville, which was originally owned by Elvis’ guitar player, Scotty Moore, to track, as well as mix parts of the project. Carl had also recorded there during the 60s, so both recording locations were like being at home for Carl.

This album contains a really good remake of Mona Lisa, as well as Rock and Roll classics Maybe Baby, My Baby Left Me, and Where The Rio De Rosa Flows. Also, there are two new songs, Memphis Hair, and Hillbilly Boy With The Rock and Roll Blues that jump out and show Carl’s ability to handle new original songs.

This album is a must for Rockabilly Fans throughout the world.
