Sprague Brothers - Let The Chicks Fall Where They May (Käytetty LP/12)
€15,00”This is the debut album by the singing Sprague Brothers–Frank plays guitar, and Chris the drums. This music is traceable straight back to Buddy Holly–influenced by the Merseybeat sound that he influenced–as well as to the Everly Brothers. Both Sprague brothers write; the songs are clearly part of a tradition, yet avoid falling into nostalgia. ”Hardship” has the spare rocking and close harmony of the Everly’s work, but is so exuberant that the song looks forward more than it looks back. Likewise, ”She’s Gonna Leave” evokes the earliest recordings of the Beatles but its verve is timeless. Guests on hand include Deke Dickerson, Randy Fuller (from the Bobby Fuller Four) and guitarist Eddie Angel (from Los Straitjackets).”

Biller And Wakefield - The Hot Guitars Of (Käytetty LP/12)
€25,00Most country musicians in 1999 have never even heard of Jimmy Bryant & Speedy West, much less take their artistic cues from them. Guitarist Dave Biller (who also plays with the all-acoustic Asylum Street Spankers) and steel wiz Jeremy Wakefield don’t quite match the intensity and all-around explosiveness of the original duo, but then again, no one else has either. Instead, the two opt for a smoother, cooler approach. Although there are hints of hillbilly boogie and Western swing, this is really a straight country-jazz record full of engaging, superbly played Buddy Emmons-style bop. Assisted at times by Big Sandy and His Fly-Rite Boys, most notably fluid pianist Sonny Leyland, the pair show a strong absorption of jazz style and technique and an overriding jazz sensibility–even down to Wakefield’s Lady Be Good” quote on ”Biller Barges In.””

Hollisters - Sweet Inspirations (Käytetty CD)
€10,00Loistavaa country-rock`n`roll-billyä amerikasta. Saman tyylistä kamaa kuin Derailers. Mahtava Johnny Cash ääninen laulaja. Yksi v. 2000 parhaista!
This Houston band consists of four aggressively traditional-minded musicians and in true Texas style, they bring together musical backgrounds ranging from country honky-tonk to rock to blues. The songs on this second CD, which is their Hightone Records debut, are primarily originals, ranging from honky-tonk shuffles, swamp pop, and a murder ballad to a good dose of Texas roots rock.
Produced by noted Austin guitarist Casper Rawls of the Leroi Brothers.
