  • As Diabatz - Nightmares In Red (CD)

    18,00

Some grumpy old bastards are so stuck in a glorified past they can’t see what’s so much better these days, for instance the fact more women are playing proper psychobilly, which was still quite a rare sight when As Diabatz went global with the debut album “Riding Through The Devil’s Hill” in 2009.

Three years later their EP “Crazy Psychos First Degree” showed As Diabatz had greater longevity than Dypsomaniaxe, who were the very first all-female psychobilly outfit.
Although these rocking ladies started out in Brazil, only stand-up drummer Clau Sweet Zombie still lives there. Slapping bass mistress Killer Klaw moved to Belgium and singer/guitar player Baby Rebbel went to Germany, so getting out-of-sight songs together can be somewhat of a geobitch with an entire ocean between them.

They pulled it off anyway, because “Nightmares In Red” is the best As Diabatz release by far. Catchy as hell with plenty of twang and an old school vibe for today. Icing on the cake is their billyfied mutation of a Ramones classic “Havana Affair”: Baby, baby make me loco, baby make me psycho!

  • Frogs - Inshallah (CD)

The Frogs keep their psycho firmly rooted in the good old style from the 80s, with plenty of range for the rattle of the doghouse bass. Meanwhile, they add some of their own flavour to the fifteen songs on In’Shallah, such as Arabesque guitar melodies in the title track, succeeded by B-movie theremin blessings.

Since the one-two punch of Revenge Of The Frogs (2010) and Witch! (2012) the trio have wrecked numerous stages, from Pineda de Mar all the way to Mexico. These live exploits shine through on their third album, which makes The Frogs leap in the limelight of psychobilly from Switzerland. And the world, for that matter

Drunkabilly presents: Clash Of The Primitives – a double sonic creature feature of Flanders’ finest, each bringing you six killers and all floorfillers. Adios Pantalones blast off on the flip side like a rocket 88 in a psychobilly galaxy. Ants in your pants wreck and roll with a flash of Klingonz debauchery. Or in the words of Long Tall Texans chief Mark Carew: Sounds like Nigel Lewis when he just started.” Bada bing bada boom! That remark ties us over to the Tall Boys, whose current bass fiend also beefs up grease in The Grave Brothers, along with members and alumni from a string of other outstanding bands, such as Los Putas, The Mudmen and Speedball Jr. They evoke spectres of Morricone going psycho for a Tim Burton directed splatter western, set on a ghost ship sailing for Klub Foot with The Goddamn Gallows in the crow’s nest. Dig this or chop your head off.”

Vinyl version!!! 10 inch vinyl lim. ed. from 500 copies… and with the CD version inside!!!Hailed by some as the Milwaukees, the lion’s share of their following call them the Wildmen, while they are known near and far as The Milwaukee Wildmen: the rock & roll juggernaut from the south of Holland that brought the world electrifying anthems such as ’Psycho To The Bone’ and ’Get In The Pit’. That seasoned band, founded by three mates who have been teaming up for shows across the globe since 1989, from now on will carry the official moniker Wildmen.’Blood On The Wall’ marks a new beginning for this trinity, with six mighty fine songs expanding their trademark style. The Gibson guitar from previous recordings made way for a good ol’ Gretch and the doghouse bass has been given more room at the bottom end to boot. In other words: the Wildmen’s wide-ranging brand of psychobilly sounds better than ever! It’s one thing to master the art of amplified thrills, it’s a whole lot harder to refine it. Indeed, to pull that off it takes thoroughbred Wildmen

Berlin is a melting pot and Nitro 17 sticks the unique attitude of the city all over their music. Between rockabilly and punkrock, there’s room for ska-styled gems and salutes to sixties garage beat. The foursome even put their surprising mark on a song of The Smiths, which shows how wide their range of influences is. Panic on the streets of Berlin indeed, because in Nitro 17’s hometown clubs get so packed when they play live, unlucky fans have to stand outside to get anywhere near the action. These rockin’ travelers share decades of roadwork between them. Fifteen years ago Jo Fischer was already frontman of Desperado Five. From the smooth to the rough, his voice suits the songs. Upright bass player Ralph Summers has a bunch of tours with Spo-dee-o-dee under his belt, while drummer Stephane Doucerainz backed-up Nikki Sudden. After the first Nitro 17 record, former Mad Sin guitar slinger Tex Morton became a welcome addition to the ranks. The luscious licks from his vintage axes make this brand new record all the more sparkling. Rock & Roll reloaded, fire it up!

AIVAN HILLITÖN UUTUUS!! UUSI ALBUMI ON ÄÄNITETTY JIMMY SUTTONIN STUDIOLLA (mm. JD McPherson/Del Moroccos/4 Charms) JA JIMMY ON TOIMINIUT LEVYN TUOTTAJANA!! Moonshine Reunion took the twisting road between rockabilly and country on the acclaimed ’Sex, Trucks & Rock ’n’ Roll’. To raise the stakes for their second album, the band hopped on a plane to Chicago. In the analog Hi-Style Recording Studio, a baker’s dozen of new songs and the traditional ’Dirty Old Town’ were immortalized on tape by Jimmy Sutton, cohort of Deke Dekerson. Mr. Sutton certainly laid down the sound they deserve. Spinning ’Tired Of Drivin’ with the volume wide open comes damn close to the Moonshine Reunion live experience. The doghouse bass seems bigger, while the amps have twang flying from their tubes. At times Sutton himself joins in on baritone guitar and Alex Hall, his bandmate from The Del Moroccos, on piano. Roots galore, from pedal steel melancholy to rollicking boom-chugga-boom and honky tonkin’ swing, rounding off with tex-mex juice. No-one gets tired of drivin’ with such riches rocking on the stereo.

This is the album we should have released 25 years ago, but it never seemed to happen as we were always giving tracks away for inclusion on compilation albums. Since the reformation of the Spliffs in 2008, the idea of completing this album has been in the forefront of our minds, however we didn’t have enough material in the drawer. So, we set about writing new songs in the same style as we did back in the day, including completing a track started off by our ol’ mate Boz Boorer. After gigging the new songs we got back into the studio and laid down 12 tracks of thumping neo-rockabilly, the majority of which are self-penned tunes. For those who are fans of the old school stuff, played today as it was back in the exiting times of the early eighties: put this record on and crank up the volume. When this music gets in your blood, it’s there for life.

At these international gatherings the band went down so well, they soon had gigs lined up from Hamburg to Barcelona. All this roadwork pays off on ’Back Scratch’, adding more grease of their live sound to vinyl and cd. Boasting ten originals plus a few choice classics, such as ’I Ain’t Got You’ from Billy Boy Arnold and ’Everything I Do Is Wrong’ from Charlie Rich, this platter is a celebration of rhythm ’n’ blues and rock & roll, surfing through skiffle, early country and soul to top it off. • Frantic Flintstones - Psycho Samba Way! (CD)

When Chuck Harvey went stomping at London’s legendary Klub Foot, he caught the psychobilly virus. Ever since the frontman kick-started the Frantic Flinstones in 1986, they’ve been part of a tradition that defies description. While wrecking plenty of musical borders, the revolving line-up included players from numerous nations. When Chuck moved to Curitiba in Brazil, his Tripabilly Whizz Kids became even more boundless. The revamped Flinstones are spurred by local hero Mutant Cox (Os Catalépticos, Sick Sick Sinners) slappin’ on some Latin spice. The Chuck and Cox dream team penned most of the mighty fine originals featured on ’Psycho Samba My Way’. The latest volume in the truckload of Frantic Flinstones releases once again celebrates a wild variety of styles, without losing any psychobilly credibility. Mad mountain fiddles, honky-tonk piano, banjo pickin’ and pirate mariachis beef up the party mix, topped off by a handful of old favorites getting the trademark Bedrock & roll treatment. El Cha Cha Chuckers cowpoke credo is: Have a fucking good time! Those cheers stampede from the get-go, so the worldwide FF Muh Posse will go bananas over ’Psycho Samba’. Yabba-Dabba Mu

  • Green Moon Sparks - Rebel With A Curse (CD)

    15,00

Hailing from the ancient city of Padova in Northern Italy, the Green Moon Sparks take a welcome stance: first and foremost, psychobilly should be fun. The self-mocking slogan ’stronzo band’ amplifies this cheerful approach. Yet make no bones about their knack for spawning a wide range of rockin’ goods. From hillbilly origins to early punk and beyond, this foursome taps into decades of subterranean splendor. Meanwhile their psycho brew is flavor-enhanced by Toy Dolls tomfoolery plus Surf Rats and Scum Rats strut.

The opening salvo of debut album ’Rebel With A Curse’ is aptly baptized ’Rattle Brain’. The tone is set by the double bass rattle and howls from grimy vocal pipes, fit to deliver the vinegar over two-way guitar action. Sparks fly in twelve tuneful tracks, such as A Rockabilly Stole My Bike. Even more striking are reverberant twists on spaghetti westerns in a one-horse town where mariachi mooncalfs blow off steam for amphetamine. In the dead silence after the grand finale, one realizes why the rebel is cursed: this mutant rock & roll is far too addictive

Among those standout tracks is ’Hey Gyp’, featuring magnificent vocals of Sarah Blackwood from punkabilly prowlers The Creepshow, while a lethal rendition of the classic ’Bang Bang’ will send Cher and Nancy Sinatra on a coffin shopping spree. ’Margarita’ even puts a psycho spin on Spanish folk styles, enriched by gloomy string arrangements and accelerating fiddles. ’Convince Or Confuse’ also marks the last Astro Zombies recordings of standup bass player extraordinaire Thomas Frenchy.
