  • Price Sisters - Between the Lines (CD)

For The Price Sisters, and their new album, Between the Lines, the familiar adage rings as truly as ever: the third time is, indeed, a charm. Rich in the bluegrass tradition, yet equally versed in country balladry, folk Americana, string bands, Gospel, and even indie blues-rock, the 15-song dazzler reflects a wealth of fresh ideas and precocious wisdom coursing through twin siblings, Leanna Price and Lauren Price Napier. With its arresting melodies intertwined in lush and dexterous harmonies, and supported by the finest of contemporary talent- not to mention some masterful special guests- this brilliant third effort from the duo not only revives and reflects the roots of the art form, but expands, with conscious reverence, upward and outward, budding with ambitious intent.

They brought in Ronnie McCoury to produce, and his song choices from a Black Keys’ cover to digging deep into his vault to find an unrecorded Cowboy Jack Clement album was a great combination for this project. Throw in legends Del McCoury and Peter Rowan as special guests, and this is one that is sure to elevate these ladies.

”Synthesizers, drum machines, banjo…the world is really open right now to what constitutes folk music and we are grabbing on to that inspiration with both hands and not letting go,” says leader Dave Wilson.

  • Lund Corb - El Viejo (Indie Exclusive, Autographed) (CD)

    CD Digipak, Autographed CD
“I’ve been wanting to make a record like this for a long time. The band, Franny and I produced it ourselves in my living room with no adults present. It’s all acoustic, not an electric lick on the album…banjos and mandos and string basses and stripped-down drums. I put a ton of work into the tunes and I’m pretty proud of this batch. Had a little help from my old co-writing pal Jaida Dreyer on a couple, also wrote a good one with my screenwriter buddy, Brian Koppelman. Lots of gambling songs and lots of minor keys. And my band guys absolutely killed it too, they’re all badasses.

I’m dedicating the record to my old compadre, Ian Tyson, who passed away a few months back. I’ve named the album for him as well. ‘El Viejo’, or ‘the old one’ is what our mutual friend Tom Russell took to calling him in later years. The title track is a pretty special one for us.

We had a blast making this thing, and we hope you enjoy it too.” – Corb Lund

You Know Who is the sophomore album from Athens, GA’s own, The Pink Stones. Created In the heart of Athens, GA with their trusty-producer, Henry Barbe (Deerhunter, Drive By Truckers) You Know Who is an 11-song record that pushes the boundaries of modern country and rock n’ roll music.

The Pink Stones sound takes influence from recordings of George and Tammy, as well as J.J. Cale’s self produced Tulsa sound. The record is also just as inspired by the windy city cuts of Curtis Mayfield, all styles that covers the band’s sound in cigarette smoke and whiskey spills. The six piece band has utilized their performing chops to make a tight but soulful album with featured guests such as Nikki Lane, Jack Quiggins and Ryan Jennings (Teddy & the Rough Riders), John James Tourville (Deslondes), and Annie Leeth (Faye Webster). No strangers to friends and guests, this ramshackle unit formed together flawlessly to take the next leap into The Pink Stones deep sphere.

  • Burns Billy Don - I’ve Seen A Lot Of Highway (CD)

Billy Don Burns is the real deal. He’s a no-nonsense kind of guy who prefers to let his songs speak for themselves. After all, he’s been making music for more than fifty years and in that time, he’s seen both the ups and downs of the music business and has honestly expressed himself in a decidedly uncompromising way. It’s little wonder then that his songs have been recorded by the best in the business – a list that includes Willie Nelson, Johnny Paycheck, Tanya Tucker, Mel Tillis, and Sammy Kershaw, to name but a few. And now a new generation has come along and recorded his songs – Artists like Cody Jinks, Colter Wall, Whitey Morgan and others. ”I make music because that’s all I’ve ever done,” Billy Don maintains. ”It’s all I know. I write because the songs come out of me and I’m privileged to be able to give them life.” Billy Don’s new album, ”I’ve Seen A Lot of Highway, due for release on October 20th via Shooter Jennings’ Black Country Rock label, provides an apt summation of both the struggles and successes he’s seen over the course of his career. BDB and his guitar landed in Nashville in 1972. Within a few weeks Harlan Howard had signed him as a writer with Wilderness Music, where he met Lefty Frizzell, Tanya Tucker, Waylon Jennings, and Tommy Jennings. He was accepted in that crowd with Billy Joe Shaver, Lee Clayton, Billy Ray Reynolds, Steve Young, etc. He scored his first major cut by Connie Smith on Columbia Records in 1974. Over the years Burns became recognized as one of the original outlaws and great writers of country music. His songs pretty much tell his life story.

  • Steel Woods - On Your Time

The Steel Woods, the renowned Southern rock band, have captivated audiences with their powerful sound and heartfelt lyrics over their past three albums. With their fourth album, On Your Own Time, they embark on a poignant and emotional journey loosely following the trajectory of Uncle Lloyd, a charming but dissolute character first introduced on the Woods’ debut album, 2017’s Straw in the Wind. This ambitious album not only showcases their musical evolution and episodic storytelling abilities but also serves as a tribute to the vision and legacy of their late co-founder, Jason ”Rowdy” Cope, who passed away just before the release of their third album, All of Your Stones. Led by Wes Bayliss, the band’s guitarist, lead vocalist and co-founder, The Steel Woods have poured their heart and soul into this album, creating a record that reflects their resilience, growth, and unwavering spirit.

  • Wyatt Jaime - Feel Good (CD)

”I’m still learning how to experience joy, how to be free, how to be comfortable in my own skin,” says Jaime Wyatt. ”A lot of us grow up feeling like we have to hide who we are just to be accepted, but that comes from a place of fear and judgment. I wrote these songs as a way of letting go of all that, as permission to feel good.” Feel Good, Wyatt’s extraordinary new album, is more than just a permission slip, though: it’s an invitation. Recorded with Black Pumas’ Adrian Quesada, the record is bold and ecstatic, built on tight, intoxicating grooves that belie the songs’ substantial emotional stakes. Wyatt’s writing is raw and intuitive here, tapping into the deep recesses of her subconscious as she reckons with grief and growth, and her delivery is visceral to match, cutting straight to the bone with equal parts sensitivity and swagger. Taken as a whole, the collection stands as a radical act of creative liberation from an artist already known for pushing limits, a genre-defying work of healing and self-love that tips it’s cap to everything from Al Green and Otis Redding to Waylon Jennings and Bobbie Gentry in it’s relentless pursuit of peace.

  • Tuomari Nurmio & Folx - Rajaseudun laki (CD)

  • Tyler Childers - Rustin’ in the Rain (CD)

”Rustin’ In The Rain,” Tyler Childers’ new album, ”This is a collection of songs that I playfully put together as if I were pitching a group of songs to Elvis. I hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as I enjoyed making it. Thank you. Thank you so much.” Thus Childers.

Rustin’ in the Rain is the eagerly anticipated new album from singer-songwriter Tyler Childers. This collection of new songs is Childers’ sixth studio album, and the follow up to his critically acclaimed release Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven?.

Rustin’ in the Rain is produced by Childers alongside his longtime band The Food Stamps, and the album features the heartfelt single “In Your Love,” which Tyler first teased to fans earlier in 2023 during his Bonnaroo Music Festival performance.

  • Cobb Brent - Southern Star (CD)

Brand new album from Grammy-nominated, critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Brent Cobb. Context from Brent: ”You know how when you’re growing up you’re told that if you ever get lost out there, look for the northern start to help find direction back home? Well, I’m from Georgia. So, I always look for the southern star. This album, the songs, the sounds… it’s all a product of where I’m from both musically and environmentally. Historically and presently that place also happens to be the same place that cultivated a good many of the most influential artists in the whole world of music. Music as we know it would not exist without the American south. It’s funky and sentimental. It’s simple and complex”

  • Brewer Gary - Gary Brewer’s House of Axes (CD)

On Gary’s forthcoming solo acoustic guitar concept album, each song is shot/recorded with a different vintage acoustic guitar of Gary’s private very rare collection. The instruments range from Martin 0-1898 Herringbone to Gary’s “Main Axe” (over the last 4 decades) Martin D28 1941 Herringbone and 7 other significant guitars for this project entitled “Gary Brewer’s House of Axes”. This is a “getting back to his roots” type feel likened unto Leo Kottke’s 1969 album 6- and 12-String Guitar, with a very stripped down/pure raw microscopic view of the essence and soul of these vintage instruments without the blurring accents of other instrumental accompaniments (in our best efforts to capture the true energy this album was cut with no overdubs, and each song was captured in the first take). There are 9 songs with the last song being a moving tribute to Gary’s late Father Finley Brewer whom he lost to cancer in late 2020. Each of these songs have short introductions that tell about each guitar and the song briefly.

  • Howdies - Howdies All Around (CD)

The story of Howdies All Around is the story of a group of friends getting together to share songs around a campfire. At it’s heart is a love for the hard scrabble heroes of Country Music’s early days and the freewheeling feeling of the Outlaw era. Howdies All Around bares bones that are the musical styles of Appalachia and the old Blues that came together to create a distinctly American art form.

The six members of The Howdies each bring a unique musical background that combines to create a singular sound. Their Athens, Ga home has long been an artistic haven for all genres of music and an open forum for shared expression. The result is a place where outsiders flourish and the rules of musical tradition are often bent or even broken with a wink and a smile. Produced by David Barbe and T. Hardy Morris and recorded at Chase Park Transduction, only Athens could create a group like The Howdies and a record like Howdies All Around. A little bit loose, a little bit home made but over flowing with the love of friendship and the sheer joy of creating something new.

  • The Country Side Of Harmonica Sam - Back To The Blue Side (CD)

Upea uutuus. Viimeisen päälle hyvää kantria ruotsista.

This album sound like a top of then line country music record for one reason only:
The Countyry Side Of Harmonica Sam play their music that way.
Harlan Howard famously stated that ”all you need write a country song is three chords and the truth”.
Although he said that right, I believe that delivering the song also takes personality, musicanship, style, and other traits of that nature.
In the case of these five Swedish honky-tonk heroes, they have it all.
This band is bringing quality back in style, and I don’t know about you, but I sure have missed it. Their work is characterized by the high standarts that used to be the very essence of recordings made for Decca Records in Nashville, or Capitol in California, but that somehow got more and more scarce as country music’s path went on.
I’m sure you will agree that these guys really have a way with a sad song. Their music rings with the sound of heartache, loneliness, and love. It is the kind of love that, whether it is faded, unrequited, or burning with desire, can make one lose his mind and stay out late wandering the streets after closing time.

After listening to this record, you might catch youself thinking that being blue might be the most beautiful feeling in the world. Or at least it is when you have such a fine soundtrack to cry along to.

Harmonica Sam and his team might be on the ”Country Side”, but they can’t seem to shake off that lonesome feeling called the blues.

    ”Theo Lawrence”
