Remains - A Session With The Remains (LP)

    22,00

NOW ON LIMITED EDITION TRANSLUCENT GOLD COLORED VINYL!!

Ever wish you could travel back in time and be in the thick of the 1960s rock explosion? Well, until an actual TARDIS is perfected, this album is the next best thing. Recorded in the wee hours of May 26, 1966, A Session with the Remains is a no-holds barred romp through their club set, captured live-to-tape in Capitol Records’ studios. Recorded as an audition for the label, the albums seethes and snarls, twists and shouts, rocks and rolls and generally embodies the force of nature that was the Remains. Performing a mix of originals and current hits, the band is in command at every step, rocking one minute and pausing to kibitz between songs the next. In attempting to describe this album, reviewers have used words like “blazing,” “explosive,” “delirious”…but honestly, none of these descriptions comes close to what is contained in the grooves. It’s like trying to tell a stranger ‘bout rock & roll, ya know? All you really need to do is listen. After all, one guitar lick is worth a thousand words. This BLAZING, EXPLOSIVE, DELIRIOUS album was painstakingly sourced from the one-and-only original two-track analog mono master tape and wrestled onto high-quality vinyl and compact disc for your review. I’d like to thank you on behalf of the group and Sundazed for listening and I hope they pass YOUR audition! Also available on compact disc! ”A religious totem of all that was manic and marvelous about mid-’60s pop” – Rolling Stone Magazine”Blazing through a mix of originals and covers, the Remains explode in a torrent melody, searing guitar leads and furious drumming. This quartet’s ability to play with such delirious abandon yet still nail the tunes’ sharp hooks and abundant vocal harmonies marks it as one of rock’s more talented and incendiary units” – Chicago Tribune

Catalinas - Fun Fun Fun (LP)

    22,00

The first wave of the surf music explosion spawned countless short-lived bands and one-shot studio projects. Many of those projects were quickly forgotten, but a handful have continued to inspire hushed reverence among surf aficionados. The latter category includes the Catalinas’ lone album, originally released in 1964 and out of print for more than four decades. An all-star studio supergroup featuring legendary producer Terry Melcher, future Beach Boy Bruce Johnston and fabled Wrecking Crew members Hal Blaine, Jerry Cole, Steve Douglas, Leon Russell, Billy Strange and Tommy Tedesco, the Catalinas lived up to their impressive pedigree. In addition to rarely-heard tunes penned by Bobby Darin and a pre-Byrds Roger McGuinn, the album features potent versions of such surf and hot rod classics as “Surfin’ U.S.A.,” “Wipe Out,” “Banzai Washout,” “I Get Around” and “Summer Means Fun.” Long a rare collector’s item, Fun Fun Fun is now back in its original vinyl format, remastered from the original analog tapes and pressed on high-definition vinyl, with complete original cover art.

Haggard Merle - Live From Austin, TX ’78

    24,00

When he stepped onto the Austin City Limits stage for the very first time on that brisk January day in 1978, Merle Haggard was at the top of his game. It had been over a decade since his first national hit, “Sing A Sad Song,” and not that long after “Okie from Muskogee” had firmly planted his music in the public consciousness. He had already been declared “Entertainer of the Year” by both the Country Music Awards and Academy of Country Music – in the same year (1970). He had just released A Tribute to the Best Damn Fiddle Player in the World (Or My Salute to Bob Wills), which sparked a revival of interest in western swing. And with his band, The Strangers, it’s no stretch to say that he had the best live show in country music of his day.

Town Mountain - Lines in the Levee (Orange Vinyl, Autographed) (LP)

    22,00

Hailing from Asheville, North Carolina, Town Mountain is the sum of all its vast and intricate influences — this bastion of alt-country rebellion and honky-tonk attitude pushed through the hardscrabble Southern Appalachian lens of its origin.

With their latest album, Lines in the Levee, Town Mountain creates a collage of sound and scope within the same template of freedom found in the round-robin fashion of the musical institution that is The Band — a solidarity also found in the incendiary live shows Town Mountain is now revered for from coast-to-coast, this devil-may-care gang of strings and swagger.

Recorded at Ronnie’s Place (part of the Sound Stage Studios) on Music Row in the heart of Nashville, Lines in the Levee is a bona fide workshop in the seamless blend of Americana, country, bluegrass and folk roots — this crossroads of deep influences and cultivated visions each member of Town Mountain brings to the table.

We the People - Too Much Noise (Coloured) (LP)

    20,00

Occasionally we have a little extra fun with our vinyl and will spontaneously create a short run of existing records on cool colored vinyl! Garage fans agree: We The People’s raging, tough-as-nails punk tracks “Mirror of Your Mind” and “You Burn Me Up and Down” rate among the era’s best. But believe it or not this band was capable of even more. Along with the above two hammer-down classics, Too Much Noise collates everything the seminal—and surprisingly diverse—Central Florida outfit cut for the Challenge label during the band’s mid-’60s heyday, including the raga-rock fave “In the Past” (covered by the Chocolate Watchband) and the tender folk-rock ballad “(You Are) The Color of Love.” Sourced from the original analog masters, here are We the People’s three scarce and essential Challenge single sides plus material recorded for the label but unreleased at the time—all of it in raw, skull-crushing fidelity on CD and high-definition vinyl. Tracks on this release also appear on the following compilation :Garage Beat ’66 Vol. 6: Speak of the Devil… CD

    Uniques - Uniquely Yours (LP)

    20,00

A decade before he was topping the country charts, Joe Stampley fronted one of the deep south’s most legendary and rockin’ ’60s combos, the Uniques. Once signed to Shreveport, Louisiana-based Paula Records, the Uniques made waves nationally on their very first release, “Not Too Long Ago.” That pop classic (faithfully/recently covered by Nick Lowe) is just one of many highlights of their ’66 debut LP, Uniquely Yours. According to the master tape, this record was originally going to be tagged The Uniques in Action; a shelved album title that could not have been more apt. Finally reissued (and in fabulous mono, to boot), this is southern rock ’n’ soul at its finest; a real mélange of styles that swings wildly from deep-fried garage rock, frenzied frat-beat, infectious Stampley-penned pop, and gorgeously soulful ballads. From Presley and Gene Vincent to any Justice label ’60s garage band worth mentioning, southerners have always littered their LPs with this latter fare. But when it comes to delivering a soulful ballad, Joe Stampley is up there with the very best of ’em. Uniquely Yours includes the group’s all-time biggest regional hit, a cover of Art Neville’s “All These Things” (in its original mix, unadorned by string overdubs) and a “Georgia (On My Mind)” that simply blows away all other white boy soul renditions. But make no mistake, this is a largely uptempo set marked by the ferocious punk pace of “You Ain’t Tuff,” updated rockabilly funkiness of “Fast Way of Living,” blistering guitar workouts like “Strange,” plus some of the best damned covers ever waxed. For a positively unique album experience, Sundazed includes the classy period sleeve design from the original Paula release.

Adrian and the Sunsets - Breakthrough (Colored Vinyl) (LP)

    20,00

High-Flyin’ Surf Rock From Southern California on 180 Gram Multi-Colored Vinyl! Adrian Lloyd and his backing band The Sunsets were still teenagers when they recorded this highly-prized slab of pure California surf-rock. Long desired amongst collectors both for its brand of high-energy, drum-driven rock ‘n’ roll and for the crazy swirly vinyl it was pressed on, Breakthrough is a prime example of a genre that still excites fans of early ‘60s music. Featuring the should-have-been-a-hit title track and many other almost-classics, Adrian Lloyd’s high flyin’ slab is an essential part of any surf-rock collection. Now Sundazed brings this long-out-of-print album to you the way you want it -— pressed on swirly colored vinyl, with brand new liner notes by John Blair, author of The Illustrated Discography of Surf Music, 1961-1965, and featuring an abundance of great bonus tracks including the hard to find single “She Treats Me Better Than You” and the killer unreleased tracks “Drums In Orbit” and “On Moonlight Bay.” Plus, the CD brings you even more treats, including the highly-desired single “Lorna” and the unreleased track “Mersey Girl”. This Sundazed issue of Breakthrough is destined to be just as sought after by collectors!

Various - Ain’t It Hard! Garage & Psych from Viva Records (LP)

    20,00

The short-lived Viva Records label was one wildly eclectic outfit. Helmed by hitmaker Snuff Garrett, this Los Angeles-based imprint targeted the teen marketplace with a series of extraordinary garage / psych / pop singles. The label’s command of popular styles prevailed across these Top 40 hopefuls, ranging from the stomping beat of the Shindogs to the psych-fuzz nirvana of the Sound Sandwich. And there’s Class of ’66 garage-grunge from the Wailers and the Second Helping (yes, that’s a teenage Kenny Loggins howling at the moon on the positively snarling Let Me In,” among other selections). With a supporting cast led by Leon Russell and J.J. Cale and bolstered with choice Snuff Garrett Productions like Gypsy Trips and Sunday Servants, Ain’t It Hard! stands as an essential anthology of Sunset Strip sixties sounds!”

Trashmen - The Best Of (Colored) (LP)

    25,00

The Trashmen’s defining moment, 1963’s ”Surfin’ Bird,” is perhaps the ultimate lightning-in-a-bottle record. Their first true studio recording, it captures the group’s interminable energy and mastery of live performance. But it also is the culmination of spirit and experiment that turned it into something new and, from the perspective of 50 years, unique.

This collection shows them to be variously a first-rate surf band, a great protopunk outfit, solid rockers with the raw essence of the earliest originators of the sound, and adept enough to work in some comedy and country. This scope of ability and interest is probably the true basis of the band’s following now. But ”Surfin’ Bird” has more tenacity than other bands’ entire better-performing catalogs, and with it, the Trashmen created a work that is arguably today the most relevant release from that storied decade.

JP Harris' Dreadful Wind & Rain - Don’t You Marry No Railroad Man (LP)

    19,90

JP Harris has a secret: his name is actually ”Squash.” Long before Harris became a well regarded honky-tonker, he used his childhood nickname while playing archaic ”old-time” American tunes at underground fiddlers’ gatherings, engrossed in this punkish folk music world. Don’t You Marry No Railroad Man, his debut recording of traditional music under the moniker JP Harris’ Dreadful Wind and Rain, features ten tracks spanning the breadth of American old-time repertoire. Harris wades between ancient ballads that traveled from the British Isles to Appalachia like ”Barbry Ellen,” to droning banjo ditties such as Hobart Smith’s entrancing ”Last Chance,” here played on one of Harris’ coveted homemade banjos. Harris also works as a serious carpenter which adds a unique authenticity to his versions of the classic ”House Carpenter” and lesser known ”The Little Carpenter.” Alongside Harris’ haunting vocals, the album prominently features the low-tuned fiddle and harmony singing of his longtime friend and Old Crow Medicine Show member Chance McCoy, who produced the record at his West Virginia studio in an old barn. On this sparse and arresting recording, Harris isn’t mining his roots as a marketing pitch, he has the chops to back it up. In fact, this collection of songs made him who he is today. Welcome home ”Squash.”

Since first bursting on the rock’n’roll scene in 1994, there has been much speculation about the origins, identity, and the possible hidden agenda of the cave beat combo, The Neanderthals. This version of Modern Stone-Age Family includes a favorite from their ritualistic live performances: the sphere smearing “Ballbuster Baby,” available on vinyl here for the first time!

Owens Buck - ”Live” In Scandinavia (Coloured) (LP)

    25,00

Buck Owens’ legendary live albums from Carnegie Hall, Japan and London were landmark efforts that captured Buck and the Buckaroos at their peak, but he also recorded other live albums overseas. The most obscure of Buck’s live releases was his April 1970 show in Oslo, Norway that featured Don Rich with the Buckaroos, Buck’s son Buddy Alan and the Hagers. Fiery and intense, it reflects that unique early ‘70s period when Buck was experimenting and broadening his sound beyond his old style. With only a couple thousand copies pressed for the Norwegian market, this was Buck’s rarest album.

    Limited to 500 copies.
